I'd say that by a 'hockey trade' Nill was referring to having multiple pieces in play from both sides. My guess would be something like Chiasson, Daley and one of Faksa/Ritchie/Glennie for Spezza and Methot could get it done provided an extension could be reached.

Do that and go after Ehrhoff and another UFA forward (provided Michalek resigns, if not say Grabovski and Kulemin) and this team would look pretty solid:

Macarthur-Turris-Ryan
Michalek/UFA-Grabovski-Chiasson
Hoffman-Zibanejad-Stone
Condra-Smith-Greening/Neil
ex: Greening/Neil, Lazar

Karlsson-Ehrhoff
Cowen-Weircioch
Gryba-Daley
ex: Phillips, Ceci

Anderson
Lehner

lazar won't be the extra forward. if they keep him in the NHL, it will be to get a regular shift....if not, they'll send him back to junior.

i think kuli would be a great addition for our 3rd line, and could step up into our 2nd line when needed.

i think he didn't fit well into carlyle's system, but would fit nicely into maclean's puck possession system. not saying he'd be a 30 goal scorer again, but i think 15-20 and 40pts is a possibility

- sensarmy_11

Yeah he might rebound. I'd imagine he would want to play in Pitts first and foremost. But, yeah maybe second choice could be Ott. The game just passes him by it seems. It really does look like the Russian plane crash really affcted him more than others. He's not be remotely the same since around then.

Worked well last year when we used them as our third line after Hemsky arrived. Hoffman is scary fast and stone is very responsible defensively and they all have offensive talent to some extent. It would use a strategy of overwhelming another team's grinder lines with speed and skill, hoping that most of the shift is in the other team's zone. Can't be scored on when the puck ain't around your crease.

We also had turris and spezza here to shelter the kids ,we will play kids with vets to ease them into bigger roles .Zibby will get top 6 mins but not with kids he will be braced with vets like a ryan or a mac. Same for stone,he looked fine with turris and mac why bust that up

Kulie,s value to us is his pking and sound defensive play.We can overpay a bit here to secure him ,i think he would be a great third line winger to help teach Lazar the defensive game at the nhl level

He doesn't play well defensively either. It's more of an urban legend passed down through generations.

Our PK (although not just him) was the 2nd or 3rd worst in the league. He's not committed along the boards. Stopped using his size (he never really did but it was better). Won't shoot.

I like the guy, i really do, but he has lost his game. Badly. Maybe a change of scenery will re-ignite him.

Spezza camp hasn't changed trade list, nor does it expect to: “I’d like to think there’s a deal to be made." http://es.pn/1oi77zG [in]

think that will change if stastny signs in StL...but either way, only really leaves nashville that was interested that murray can't deal with.

Spezza is holding out for the Blues. By tomorrow it will either happen or his approach will change.

Murray is sitting on options. Like I said a couple of days ago, he is trying to accomodate Spezz but that can only go so far.

We should make a blog about the trades Murray made with teams that players had no trades to - Heatley and Edmonton, Redden and San Jose, Spezza and Nashville, Nash to Ottawa - the guy s great at making trades that are completely pointless.

Why would spezza hold out for the blues when he is their second choice .If they get statsny this will have been nothing but a waste of time ,Spezza needs to rethink what he should be doing here

I think if Murray took the Blues last offer of Berglund and the 21st most Sens fans would have vomited.

Interesting to note that Dorion said they were going to take Englund in the first round if they had a pick after twenty. They seem genuinely giddy about this kid.

Well, the whole situation is lacking.

Murray wanted to throw Spezza under the bus. He could have just been looking for a trade and either found one in the offseason or at the trade deadline. Instead, he makes it public that Spezza would like to go to a team that is not rebuilding if Ottawa is not in win now mode, and then does it again by putting it out there that they were trying to trade him to a team on his no-trade list.

If I was a Sens player, this would be a big reason to look to get out of Ottawa as soon as possible. Why deal with this kind of stuff?

I wouldn't count the Blues out if they sign Stastny. I think they will still be interested, especially since his salary is so much lower than his cap hit.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Blues really wanted both Stastny & Spezza. Especially since they are going to need to rely more on offense with a young goalie in net. (Allen)

Yeah, but claiming he would be a big part of our blue line in 2-3 years did not need to be said, but he said it anyway. They really like this guy, seems a lot like a second coming of Volchenkov from how they describe him.

Couldn't agree more, Murray said with a straight face that Alfie leaving was an exception, then he follows that statement up with updating us on the Spezza trade request - he cant even see the two being corralled.

Murray threw Redden, heatley and Spezza under the bus by announcing defunct deals when they had no-trades. You just don't see classy teams like Detroit, Montreal or st Louis acting like this.

Context man ,most of this stuff is really out of it .Spezza,s agent gave us permission to talk to anybody, even teams on his list .BM came back with one from nashville ,bm said nothing else but spezza used his ntc .Poile is the one that freaked out .BM also stated that spezza wanted out because of our fans and media always being on his back ,BM threw a shot at us and our local newprint hacks with that one.The rest is really nothing but normal everyday static.Of course Spezza wants to play on a good team ,that has a shot at winning a cup .BM isnt lying we he states that we arent close enough yet to claim that

Really? Tampa didn't do it this year with St. Louis? San Jose hasn't with Joe Thornton? This isn't a new occurrence. Please take your head out of your ass or just stop talking.

Don't you dare talk about Nicklas Kronwall Jr like that in front of me!

Next thing you'll be speaking blasphemy of the J.G. Pagiroux!
