I am quite happy with the draft and especially the money saved to go for UFAs. But do we really need any? Sure I would love to see Derek Roy back.
hummmm....ffwwwhhhhhh.... BWa-ha-ha-ha. Maybe he and Marco Sturn can pair up.
But a serious question here ----- we have used our 2 buyouts..... do we ever get anymore? Is there a deadline for a team to use their current buyouts? Can a buyout be traded to another organization? |

If we are signing Miller, I'd rather we sign him to a 2-3 year deal and trade Lack. Lacks going to be 26 this year, and 29 around the end of a Miller contract. His value is pretty good right now, and if we can capitalize on that to land a upgrade somewhere, id seriously like Benning to consider that.
Taking Markstoms 1 way contract into consideration, I feel this is exactly what they are discussing right now. Lack vs Miller, spending 3 mill on Goal vs Spending 6-7, etc. - Gullzy
As I said earlier, if it's more than one year my price would go way down, and I doubt a guy like Miller wants to be part of a rebuild at this stage of his career. I have no desire to get locked into any expensive players long term, flexibility moving forward is much more important. If Neither Lack nor Markstrom are their guy I can respect that, but I doubt Miller (or Hiller) is the bridge to their next starter. |

Compliance buyouts were limited to two per team to be used prior to last season or this season and they are only for contracts signed prior to the existing CBA. Their function was to get out from under a 'Luongo' contract with no cap penalty. There is still the regular buyout which is 2/3 of the salary paid out over twice the remaining years, which still counts against the cap. |

Not a fan of bringing in a bunch of UFAs, I say let the kids play, but I'd try to get Steve Ott. |

Miller has something to prove. His playoff performance was un-spectacular. What I'm suggesting is that if the Canucks were actually interested in trying to make the playoffs, and they thought that Miller could help in this regard, that they should offer him that chance to prove he's worth a longer term deal by OVERPAYING him on a one year deal. Offer him $6.5m for one year, Lack backs him up and they get to ease Lack back into a starter role in a years time if he's ready. - 1970vintage
6.5x1 is 6.5 million. 5x4 is 20 million. You'd have to offer him a hell of a lot more than 6.5 on a 1 year deal to offset the risk of having a bad season under a bad team and lessening the amount he could command after. |

I think with Miller I would offer 5 mil /4 years term. That will give the new goalie time to get ready.
Cassels Lack Tanev for Myers deal will happen Tuesday .
Hansens NTC Kicks in Tuesday . Will he still be a Canuck? |

We could use Hansen and a lower 2015 pick to provoke a camp dump out of Boston (Erikkson? Boychuk? Krug?). |

Im thinking they'll be willing to give up Marchand for Hansen plus a pick.
His NTC kicks in on Tuesday, so the deal would have to go down either today or tomorrow.
I dont know how I'd feel about giving up on him though. His contract is solid, and he plays a tough game. Some people think he can be a 20 goal scorer in the league.
In the lockout shortened season, he was on pace for about 50 points on the season. |

I think Benning will keep him. He is a north to south player with speed and checks. I think once he gets settled into a shut down role and pops in occasional goals ,he would be good.
Higgins and a second for Marchand may interest the Bruins seeing they at screwed with the cap.I would even throw in a week prospect |

I think it's pretty unlikely we go after Marchand tbh. If Boston is tired of his antics, you'd have to think Benning would feel the same way. Also wouldn't be the best way to increase season ticket sales . |

Good insightful write up Miss C.
I am fully expecting one more year of sub par play so as you said providing NHL ready players this year and stocking the cupboards, I am on board
Great Job Trader Jim. - VANTEL
I'm ok with the Canucks missing the playoofs as they delelop a new identity. Getting into the top 6 next year and another good year of drafting. |

Oh I think he's a good player. Wouldn't have him on my team though, and I'm betting that Benning won't want him on the Canucks either after what has come out of Boston. If it happens, I promise to eat my words |

Any way UFAs I would go after are Iggy 3 years 6 mil per
Miller 4 years 5.3 per
Winnik 2 years 1.4 mil
Sedin Sedin Kassian
Jensen Bonino Iggy
Burrows Vey Hansen
Winnik Mathias Dorsett.
