So are you saying you hate the youth comin up? - kaptaan
No my point is that I don't see a reason to go out and spend all our cap space on older players again. Vantel railed all year about this team being to old, now he wants to sign players that are even older.

Yea, in the end I think entertainment value is paramount if you aren't a contender. Obviously everything short of a Cup is subpar but I don't think LA fans would be lining up to watch their team play shutdown hockey if all they were winning was Presidents Trophies. At least a team like the Islanders has some exciting players to watch, despite all the losing - bezz44
I think WD gets one year pardon with the new system and personnel. |

I think on paper we are currently a worse team, but the dysfunctional coaching and likely lock room miasma has hopefully been cleared enough for this team to crawl its way back into some semblance of unity and team play. At the very least I expect this team to be more fun to watch, even if they stink it up in the standings. - bezz44

Old and not producing is a whole lot different than old and producing.
Burrows Daniel and Henik combined scored 5 more goals than Iggy
164 hits for Burr Danny Hank combined 142 for iggy |

How about that kid Mackenze Stewart, my God that is me all over again, loved reading the story about him. I really pull hard for kids like that to achieve their dreams, because the odds are seriously against him, I wish him well. |

So why sign Iggy and have him play with the twins if they are not producing, seems like a waste of signing Iggy, and we don't have anyone else for him to play with. The point is moot Iggy is not signing here and if Benning signs Miller or any other old FA in the hopes of making the playoffs he will lose all my respect. He's changed the culture why wreck it with older FAs to make the playoffs, sounds like an Aquilini plan. |

been reading Hockeybuzz for a while now and finally decided to buck and pay so I can get in on the action here!!
Really looking forward to July 1st to see how the Canucks will continue to remake their roster. Loved what they've done so far. Getting rid of the Kesler distraction is huge and with that trade Benning has improved our depth with the additions of Sbisa, Bonino, and Dorsett. I like the addition of Sbisa a lot. I know he's not the most exciting player, but I think he's exactly the type of player we need. He's a big body who can bang and he's a decent puck mover as well. I think if we're ever going to compete with the big boys in the west again Benning needs to continue to add big mobile D-men who have a big of edge. I really hope the Myers rumors are true.... he'd be a perfect d-man to go up against some of the big bodied forwards in the western conference! |

Kesler did score 26 goals and Iggy scored 30. Most teams would jump at that. Keslers 18 assists is sad for a second line centre. - VANTEL
I don't want to sound like I am just trying to justify the trade, but I have always felt that Kes was overrated. I think in reality we got back a lot more than we should have, but his perceived value around the league is what created high expectations for a possible return. I feel like a used car salesman who wound the odometer back 100,000k to bump the price up a few thousand. That being said, I know a lot of guys on here are/were fans |

Iggy is exactly the type of players the Sedins need. He's a right handed shooting power forward. he'll stand up for the twins when needed and I think his passing is hugely underrated and have no doubt he would fit in perfectly with the sedins. Plus from a long-term standpoint I like him possibly being with us for 2 years for two reasons. 1) allows are younger players a big more time to develop. Jensen, shink, Kassian, Virtanen etc are not close 1st line duty yet 2) Iggy would be the perfect role model for Kassian. has there been a better PF over the past 15 years. Iggy's professionalism is 2nd to none as well... I think that could help Kassian tons.

I like Iggy a lot, though I think he'd be a better role model for Virtanen than Kass as I see Kass as more of a Jamie Benn type of playmaking winger with size |

I haven't really been a Kesler fan in years. I though he was a selfish jackass since 2012. I am glad Benning threw out the garbage. I was just pointing out that he could score. |

7th round pick of the Canucks from the Prince Albert Raiders. A 6'5" 230+ pound kid with very very raw skills that Dave Manson has been working with. |

You didn't need to spend the 20 bucks to form an opinion, I'm of the opinion - "free speech".
But welcome aboard just the same, guys will give you a hard time at first then accept you like a brother. Just don't talk about stupid poop like people's race (inside joke) |
