I wish Linden Vey the best of luck with you guys. He never complained about getting bumped up and down between Manchester and LA. The guy is a dangler and a beautiful passer. He is a little undersized but was actually rated ahead of Pearson and Toffoli on most prospect list as late as mid season this year.

If he can set up Jordan Nolan he can set up anybody.... enjoy

I doubt Tanev signs for that. He'll say I'm a top 4 dman. They make 4m pay me my money.
Hopefully trader Jim says have fun in Winterpeg or Buffalo

- Salient

Tanev is not a 4 mil Dman yet. He may be after next contract but if that is what he is asking for now he will be part of a trade package to Edmonton Buff Ny or Wpg

A number of us are excited. Sounds like the deal was only going down if that Dman was available so hopefully its a win-win trade.

I'm almost more excited about getting Dorsett and Vey than the draft picks (ok, slight exaggeration but I think Dorsett (very surprised he was made available) will become a fan favourite and Vey will turn out to be a pretty decent offensive acquisition)

It's kind of sad/disappointing that he still wants to play but is a shell of his former legend self

P.S. why does everyone seem to want Miller? missed the St. Louis play-off round? He was less than average. I loved Miller when he was younger but those days are long gone. I don't want him anywhere near Vancouver (except for when he comes to the West Coast to boink his model girlfriend)

I don't think we want Miller. we think Canucks want Miller

Agree with most of this but I am looking forward to Virtanen

Agreed, I wasn't so excited to hear Vey had been traded but given Lombardi's track record, I don't second guess the man; Much smarter than I am.

I'm surprised most are "meh" on Jared "it is what it is" McCann. He's a solid value at #24. I would have been fine with any of McCann/Barbashev/Scherbak/Kempe at that pick.

Everyone knows I wanted Ehlers at #6, but again Virtanen was #2 or #3 on my list with Nylander at that pick.

Felt Virtanen was a bit of the sell tickets hometown boy kind of deal. But that doesn't take away that he is a really good prospect worthy of being picked right around that number. McCann I really didn't know much about and still don't other than he and Virtanen were roomates for Canada.

Virtanen has sick skills and all around talent, but I agree in that this was also a bit of a PR move - home-grown-boy-makes-good sort of scenario.

I too have wanted Ehlers, though, but either way pretty happy with who we got (including 'it is what it is' boy 10,000)

McCann needs to bulk up, if he does then I really think he'll end up being a damn solid pick. He desperately needs added strength for the style he plays. His speed, hands and shot are just fine. Offensively he's been knows to have Kesler-itis sometimes though.

Yeah his height-to-weight ratio isn't great, and his possession numbers in LA weren't good. But he does have the speed and skill and isn't small height-wise.

Loved the Dorsett addition, just hope it's not for 1 year only.

How many "home-grown-boys" have the Canucks not drafted over the recent past that a large number of posters here have criticized the organization because of it.

His possession numbers are in a very small sample size and not in top 6. Either way exciting. He knows he's in the prove it to me stage of his career. Prove you belong in the top 9.

Carole, if having hip surgery (on both hips) as a goal tender is no big deal, I will eat balut for the rest of my life (and, yes, I know you were just passing that along)

McCann looks like a smug d!ck in every photo I've seen of him... so obviously I like the pick.

I have to say I'm kind of on the fence on this. I think choosing a home-grown guy has great feel-good potential and would be ecstatic if Virtanen ends up being a huge part of the team and any future success, but I think the local thing comes with a lot of additional pressure to meet or exceed expectations. You know how fickle this city's "fans" are

That said, everytime I see Gallagher play I get an ulcer
