Lets look at Wpg and get a deal going for Trader Jim:
Ehlers, Petan, Scheifle, Trouba, Morrissey. Some real nice pieces. Looks like another Dman and a goalie would fit well there! |

One spoke big and did nothing, the other doesn't really want to talk, just trade.
I think it sounds like they want to make some deals if they can capitalize on a team being over the cap and needing to dump some salary.... as long as they don't get stuck with something long term that schtanks.
Not against picking up a ufa on a short term contract. Just don't want to get handcuffed by a long term contract.
Just wondering how many more transactions we will see and what the lineup will look like in the fall. It is good to see us get some promising prospects. - hillbillydeluxe
I think
Out : Higgins Sestito Hansen Bieksa Tanev Richardson
In : Miller Nishkanen Bolland Myers BizNasty |

The key here is proper development, Virtanen is one of the youngest kids in the draft, he needs time to grow and develop. Side note, did you see his dad? He's taller than Jake which means at only 17 he could still reach 6'2" or 6'3".
Anyways, I'm hoping he has a good season in the WHL, best junior league in the world , and then comes to camp next year ready to compete for a job. - LeftCoaster
Watching the benefits of the Detroit approach in taking extended time with their prospects' development, I'd rather allow prospects like Virtanen as well as Horvat and Shinkaruk to soak in the lower leagues for a bit more time. Unless, of course, they're so advanced that their roster spot becomes undeniable. |

I'm surprised most are "meh" on Jared "it is what it is" McCann. He's a solid value at #24. I would have been fine with any of McCann/Barbashev/Scherbak/Kempe at that pick.
Everyone knows I wanted Ehlers at #6, but again Virtanen was #2 or #3 on my list with Nylander at that pick. - Nucker101
I am pretty sure I would have taken Ehlers or nylander for our pick not virtanen but not a bad pick though. My top 3 in the draft were different than how it went down but close. After those first 3 it was totally different views from everyone me thinks. |

All players that WPG probably want to build around. That said, that franchise must be feeling the pressure of not making the playoffs. If they want to win now, it's possible we could package a roster player(s) for one of them. |

might want to add to the - Out: Dalpe, Schroeder, Santorelli (wouldn't mind seeing Dalpe and Schroeder on two-ways, get the impression Santorelli will get offered more elsewhere)
Canucks roster page still has Kesler listed.

I fully agree, I didn't mean he'd actually earn a job but rather come in and turn some heads next year, get people excited...if you know what I mean.
Shinny definitely needs a year in the AHL given he didn't play much hockey last year, I think he's eligible? |

One of the above mentioned will earn a spot. Book it. |

Chevy has publicly stated he's building thru the draft...no if and's or but's...that's his deal. |

Bob Mackenzie said today when asked if Horvat will go back to the JRs . He said I am not too sure about that ,I wouldn't be surprised if he is playing on the big club
I am looking more,to the 2015 season |

Shink would actually be my pick to land a spot. His style of play and touch with the puck and speed. He will be my dark horse. |

I'm ok with that, he's got nothing left to prove in Junior. He's played a lot of hockey over the past few years - time to make that jump.
We need to get rid of Higgins and Hansen!! Bo can play the wing to ease his transition into the league. |

Can't see it with the amount, or lack of, games he's played over the past 12 months. |

Man I hate to say it but the deals the Canucks did on draft day were better than I thought they'd get.
Have to give credit where credit is due.
I didn't think Kesler would get 3 pieces and garrison was good to dump the cap space. |
|

I would, rather offer Iggy a two year deal over Moulsen. Boston can't afford him this year and Benning has a relationship with him |

Completely know what you mean, kinda link Shinkaruk did last camp. I'd imagine Virtanen will put in a few shifts in pre-season that will turn some heads.
Pretty sure I read both Shink and Horvat were AHL eligible this coming season. |

GP is a concern but coming into before he's physically mature is the bigger one for me. Need him to play hockey this year not get injured. A smaller forward like him being rushed tends to get injured - RNH as an example. Good enough to play in the league but physically its a lot to handle. If they did keep him they should do what Dallas did last year when they sat their big russian every so often to let him rest. |

Both have limited/modified NTCs. Benning just has to ask for their lists. |

I'm pretty sure that Shinkaruk is old enough to play in the AHL, so not making the Canucks doesn't mean a return to Jr. Horvat is a different story. |

I'm pretty sure the eligibility rules say that you need to turn 20 by Dec 31 of the current year, or have played 4 years of CHL hockey to join the AHL. |
