Need to what if any % of VLs contract we have to eat before I pick one of those deals

If Dallas is offering a 3rd, but asking us to eat 2 million per year for the next 4 years while Fla is offering Upshall straight up while absorbing VLs whole contract, then I take the Florida deal. They can just buy out Upshall and only have to carry a cap hit of 1.1 million for 2 years, freeing up 3.4 million and giving them some financial breathing room.

If Upshall is traded here July 2nd, they can't buy him out. June 30th ends the buyout range, unless they have an arbitration case.


That said, probably easier to deal an expiring Upshall than 4 years O Vinny

Lets see what happens first. I think we all assumed we could move him, but it would require eating some money.

I would be amazed if they are able to move him without eating any money or bringing back a bad contract.

I agree, don't want to eat salary in an Upshall deal. And with Upshall only having one year left on his deal. I would then try to trade Upshall. Some teams need to get to the floor

That's why the Gleason one might actually be the best bet in the end if they can move Grossmann... probably don't have to absorb salary at all, and he's still a semi-capable defender who can eat some tough matchups.

Hexy can get creative if he acquires Upshall for Vinny. They could easily trade Upshall, eat a $1 million for the year to drum up trade interest, and be free and clear of the Vinny cap hit. Unless Dallas is taking the entire contract, the Florida deal would be the choice, IMO.

Yeah, I have no interest in Gleason or his contract, nor would Hextall IMO. I think we'll hear about a deal with Fla late in the day on 7/1.

No doubt. I'm in no hurry to weaken the team by swapping Grossmann for Gleason. That's a bad idea.

People are questioning the MacDonald hate. I'm not understanding the Grossmann hate. Take Timonen out of the line up, Grossmann goes head to head against the best and he's cheaper. I wish he was more gifted with the puck and fast but it doesn't mean he's a bad player because he isn't.
