If he retires before contract is up , Buffalo was screwed - Winning
He'll be 37 at the end of the deal- Flyers love old D men!
Edit: I get the recapture just wanted to poke fun of our affinity for old D men |

What? He has to have trade value. Grossman and a prospect! - coffee junkie
If interested the Flyers could trade a problem contract to buffalo that the Sabres could buy out, that would save them Money ( with less term and $ owed).......although I think the Erhoff deal was front end loaded so the buyout might not be bad.... |

If Erhoff retires early after the Sabres trade him, they get killed with cap penalties. |

That's just it: I don't think any of the aforementioned players are NHL-ready, and I am dead set against rushing Morin in particular. Nemeth and Jokipakka seem more NHL-ready than Alt and I don't think Lauridsen is an NHL prospect.
But if Flyers packaged VL, NG and a 2016 second-round pick and got Nemeth in return, I think it would strengthen Dallas as a playoff-worthy team for the second straight year and would give the Flyers both the cap relief they need and also potentially solve the issue of replacing the Grossmann role.
I would also be just as happy to keep NG out of the deal and accept Jokipakka in lieu of Nemeth. - bmeltzer

Buffalo buying out Erhoff. His attractive cap hit is gonna skyrocket - Jsaquella
I thought I read that players had to go through waivers before being bought out? Is this true, or am I remembering incorrectly? |

Not if they have a NMC. Briere, Brad Richards, Vinny all had no waivers |

When has that ever stopped the Flyers ? He's only 31. Was it the length that brought the penalty ? If they traded Vinny straight up.....they buy Vinny out on 2/3 of 18 mil.....cheaper the 2/3 of 28 mil....

Being as they probably have to eat salary, or deal as high as a 2nd round pick to get rid of Lecalvier, would it make more sense to just buy him out? |

thank you. I'm getting tired of all the people who don't watch his game that think he's NHL ready. I want every Flyers prospect to succeed but it's just not happening for Lauridson. |

Ok thank you.
So, hypothetically speaking, Ehrhoff could choose to go through waivers since he only has a limited NTC, get claimed (by the flyers lol) and buffalo would still be on the hook for the cap recapture penalties?
Granted, I highly doubt he does that, if it's even possible, why pass up an opportunity to sign with a playoff team for big bucks? |

He's a good defenseman, just not $5M/yr good
Edit: in my opinion, of course. Would you rather have MacD for $5M per or Ehrhoff for $5.5-$6m? |

I thought AMac played a smart 2-way game. I also think he elevated Luke's game some. Glad we have him. |

Is Carle a $5.5 million D man?
Bother were UFA
That's the going rate, he plays a ton of minutes, mobile, blocks shots, not sure how he's considered a whole lot less? |
