They are at least forced to do something interesting anyways. My hope is that they get guys with just a couple years left in the league, That way any salary they add will be gone by time they need to use that money when they are competing again.

The relationship between the two entities can't be a friendly one. Murry hasn't shown the league much respect. Which I love by the way. He recognizes the league is creating rules that are helping teams in weaker markets ie. Florida.

Doubtfull, the moves your gunna see will be "safe" ones. I know murray said hes not afraid to take risks but he knows what is in front on him with our farm system. Why overpay for anyone long term?

If you're a free agent, and want to come here now, winning is not your #1 priority, even before this move. It's a catch-22. You don't want that type of attitude in your locker room, but you also have no choice because nobody that wants to win is going to want to come here. The Sabres are going to have to give quite a few players money they don't deserve.

This team has got to be careful. The last thing they want to do is give players tons of scratch who don't deserve it. Then all of the sudden, you've got many other Gm's mad at Murray and the Sabres for "setting the market" on 3rd and 4th line slugs, because now their players want the same amount.

Nothing worth the risk of a $10 million cap penalty. Other teams knew that and weren't going to give what Murray needed to justify the trade with the risk.
