I don't think he is a #1 he would have to improve a lot for me to label him a #1 but I think he is a 2 or 3

Of those 4 IMO Risto is the only one with top line potential...so i'd play him alongside myers..

Zadarov - very good 2nd liner/fill-in on 1st line
Pysyk - same
McCabe - solid 2nd liner/3rd line if there is a glut

it SHOULD (key word there) look like this in 3 years:

Myers, Risto
Zads, Pysyk
McCabe, Austin (he intrigues me for some reason)

In three years Risto is getting paid, Zadorov will be knocking on that door and pysyk and mccabe will be on bridge contracts. Myers wont be worth resigning at that point unless he returns to calder form and if that is the case then buffalo won't have the funds to committ that much money on the blue line

From a money standpoint none of them have proven poop (with the exception of Myers)...so i don't see any of them breaking the bank...plus its easier to sign guys for less on a team that is headed in a very good direction...and in 3 years w/ reinhart and McDavid/Eichel we will be in a very good way

as far as Myers returning to calder form...like i said before..with REAL support coming from the other 5 Dmen he can focus on his game rather than being THE defenseman for the team

I never once used the word cornerstone.

Refer to my previous explanation as to why he's not worth trading.

-He's 24, barely entering his prime.
-Yes his offense has decreased, but his two way game is becoming much more well rounded
-He's starting to become the physical player he has the potential to be
-His overall skill is improving every year, with the inconsistencies growing smaller.
-Established top 4 if not top 2 defenseman in this league already, there's no way he degrades from that.

There is absolutely not a single reason on this planet to get rid of him unless there's overpayment involved.

Disagree. Murray has said it himself he isn't looking for bums who cant score.. Sure we wont get the Stastny's of free agency but we will get guys who can play and don't look like John Scott out there. We have a lot of cap room and Murray doesn't want to be a punching bag again.. He knows we will be bad but still wants to be hard to play against. Personally I look for us to sign 1-2 defenseman 2-3 forwards via FA or trade and finish somewhere from 2nd worst to 4th worst while gaining some respect back from last year.
