Or they could agree to trade for cap space in exchange for draft picks along with it. - buffalofan19
Much rather this, they already tried for umberger, suspect they'll continue pursuing that kind of deal in the coming days. |

Ehrhoff was good, but it does irk me that a guy signs a 10 year deal and wants out of it.
I could see if it was a 5 or 6 year deal, but he wanted the money and signed up for a decade to get it |

Actual quote by him? Wow, I love his bluntness. Doesnt sound like he was too happy with Ehrhoff either, haha. - ZootAllures
Murray is the (frank)ing man. No BS. Ehrhoff is a valuable player and would for sure have been traded if possible. That recapture penalty could really bite us in the ass, especially if Ehrhoff doesn't feel like being here and isn't providing enough on the ice. It's a smart move for both parties. Sucks, but well done. |

Yes, an actual quote. Ehrhoff was much more blunt to the German press about his not wanting to be in Buffalo than he was with the English speaking press.
I cant see it happening, but Patrick Kane wants 12 mil a season and will probably get 10... |

It sounds like Ehrhoff's issue was that he didn't care for Nolan. It's probably why I couldn't get too upset at him, because I don't care for him either. - buffalofan19
How do you make that assumption? |

Didn't care for Nolan didn't care for Rolston (who did) its funny some players adjust and figure it out other players female dog about it. Not just on this team. Leino, Vanek, and Ehrhoff gone while Stafford is still here. I still have faith for Stafford next year for some reason. |

And yet, nowhere was it ever reported, nor did Tim Murray, who seems to be up front about this things, that Ehrhoff ever requested or demanded a trade. This was all about feel. There's no doubt Ehrhoff wasn't thrilled about the situation (and why would he be?) but make no mistake, the Murray and Co. wanted Ehrhoff gone even more than Ehrhoff wanted to leave. |

This isn't the first time the NHL has tweaked its lottery system. And it's not anywhere near the first time either lottery league team (the other being the NBA, who is most likely going to tweak it again soon as well) has done it.
It's rules like putting in this recapture penalty retroactively that make the NHL a "garage league" as Mario Lemieux likes to put it. - buffalofan19
says Lemieux who was drafted by a Pittsburgh team that blatantly tanked to draft him |

Oooook let's try this again without the angry and assuming retort that I want a pile of free agents and to be a middling team for the next one hundred years.
So, season ticket holders, WHO DOES EK HAVE ON HIS NEATO CHART AS RUMORED TO BE LOOKING TO SIGN HERE ON TUESDAY. |

Vanek is still going to get paid, and Ehrhoff will most likely be signed by a contender and be a key piece for them. The only outlier is Leino, and that's simply because he was never very good to begin with. Stafford looked better, because, like Myers, he had nowhere to go but up. |

I think he just didn't want to be here on a rebuilding team.
This team will (IMO) at the very least contend for the cup during the duration of his contract, if he didn't want to honor the deal he signed and see it through, then (frank) him. He purposely signed long term to get more money |

Actually, this is a fantastic idea. The cap is lower than what many teams wanted, so I'm sure Murray will capitalize on it with all of our space. We could take on Heatley-esque contracts, and get more assets as well. As the season approaches, teams would get more and more desperate, which drives up the price for us taking on contracts. We could end up with a LOT of 1st rounders. |

So if cap-challenged team wants to free up space, it can (for example) trade player/contract and draft pick to BUF for lesser draft pick.
looks like will be adding some high priced players for picks! |

says Lemieux who was drafted by a Pittsburgh team that blatantly tanked to draft him - Michael Pachla
Like I said earlier, leagues with draft lotteries tweak their systems all the time. I know it hurts because Buffalo is the team that stands to get hurt the most, but if you look at history, this is nothing new.
The recapture rule is the league attempting to punish teams for its own inadequacies. |

So that would make him a decision maker...you go back and forth about Murray yet make claims like the bolded (which you could be right or you could be totally wrong).
Murray is no nonsense Ehrhoff wanted out Murray obliged pretty simple if you ask me. No need to make the make no mistake comment cause you don't know. |

He never demanded or even requested to be moved though. At least, there's no public evidence of that. This was more about the Sabres wanting him out than the other way around. |

What are you talking about? I said Murray has no track record as a decision maker? Of course he's a decision maker now, he was just hired to be one. That doesn't automatically make him a good or a bad decision maker. We won't know if this ended up being a good decision or a bad decision for a while. |

I dont have the ambition to go look for them, but if you can find Ehrhoff talking to the German press at the trade deal line and after the season ended he said he told Murray he wanted out. |
