Beacon of hope? No season ticket holders are not that stupid. Ok maybe some but not the majority.

That's why Vancouver should offer sheet him at two years. They match and the guy gets to be a ufa in two years and then joins vancity.

Perfect offer sheet him for the exact number of years to get to UFA, they match and you sign him at day 1 of UFA

They looked at doing this for Shae Weber. Weren't convinced he'd come. Maybe he's different.

Big difference is Weber didn't have a house in Philly.

Wouldn't mind tweaking the line up and making a few more trades for younger guys so the team has a legit shot at finishing last.

Wonder if we're considering offersheeting/acquiring Reilly Smith? Benning's obviously familiar with him. Desjardins coached him with the Texas Stars a couple years back. He's 23 & coming off a 20g/51pt season (+28). Bruins have no cap space to match.

I think/hope an offer sheet is out of the question for the Canucks right now. They'll likely be drafting pretty high in the next few years, would hate to lose any first or second round picks.

I can't believe the hate-on many have for Miller. Here is the scenario.... one of our goalies goes down for a month..... *poof* goes any growing momentum. Even the Leafs (JS Giguaire) and Oilers (Bulin Wall) went with vets even though they knew it was a long shot. Lack is great and I have never seen our #2 play.

That is a scary combo to go into the season with.

I say get Miller.

Would love if one of the goalies went down with an injury! The point of this coming season is to be awful. Looks like all the prospects will be back in junior or in the A. Need a top 2 pick next year.

With our scouting & development track record, I'd gladly burn a 2nd or 3rd rounder to acquire a 23yr old coming off a 20g/51pt season. Maybe Benning can pull off a cheaper trade than that with his connections though... The Bruins are in cap hell & they still have to re-sign Krug before Reilly.

It would take quite a big offer sheet for the Avs not to match. Benning sounds pretty set on building through the draft.

Cap Hit of offer sheet Draft Pick Compensation
$1,110,249 or below None
Over $1,110,249 to $1,682,194 Third-round pick
Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 Second-round pick
Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 First-round and third-round pick
Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 First-round, second-round and third-round pick
Over $6,728,781 to $8,410,976 Two first-round picks, second-round pick, third-round pick
Over $8,410,976 Four first-round picks

The Bruins have $1.7 mill in cap space and they have to sign Krug... Wouldn't take much.

They don't have the cap space to match anything and we don't have our own 3rd next year.

I'd wanna keep all my top 3 round picks right now if I were Benning. Plus, it seems like all offer sheets are matched these days, unless it would be some crazy amount.

I don't think you can offer sheet unless you have a pick in every round.Higgins for a third anybody?
