He's got all the tools to be a very good player, speed, shot, hockey IQ, size, two-way game, he's exactly what Benning is looking for in a player.
Last year he played the whole year as a 17 year old, he needs time to mature, I like this pick. It'll be three years before we see this kid, let hm soak until he's ready - LeftCoaster
yeah, im hoping he can really step up his offensive game this year in the OHL. Hopefully work the kinks out of that mind or whatever it is that is holding him back a little.
I agree, neither of those 2 players will bring a lot to this team. A stop gap solution but that is it. I would rather miss the playoffs this year in a very deep draft then try and squeeze in 7-8th spot and get swept. This team needs a scoring 2lc then can take 1 lC in 2-3 years, Sedins unfortunately are only good for 1st or nd line in the new Western conference. They will not survive in 3rd line duties. - Linden_4_Capt
I have no problem with a #6 draft next year, just think this regime wants an environment where we are winning and trying to win. This means no top 5 picks usually. |

Anyone want Ehrhoff back? Maybe he'll play cheap now that he's got 7 years worth of buyout money in his pocket. |

I was almost more excited about the McCann pick than Virtanen. It felt like we got great value for the 24th overall. Like last year with Shink. Whether it proves to be a wise pick remains to be seen |

That just sounds like we are giving him a pass for his comments. Did he actually come out and clear the air? I thought the purpose for the combine was for GM's to evaluate players and get a feel for if they would like to play on their team. I am just cheesed that we used that pick on McCaan (which I believe was Gillis move- pick the highest rated player that fell) when we had HoSang on the table. - Linden_4_Capt
By all accounts Ho Sang is the biggest idiot in this draft by far. Benning and Linden have said over and over they want good, hardworking, character guys to come here. |

Have learned Zack Kassian's agent will not accept the #Canucks qualifying offer - he goes to camp essentially without a contract. |

NYR didn't qualify Kyle Beach. Delorme probably texted Benning as soon as he heard. "Great kid, sign him!"

The Kings sent a qualifying offer to Linden Vey - the #Canucks now assume that responsibility. |

BTW a little late to the party, but what do you guys think about the McCann pick. He reminded me of Francis and that was not a good feeling. Did he come out and explain his bizarre interview and the sour puss face? - Linden_4_Capt
Apparently McCann was misunderstood, when he said he modelled his "game" after Ryan Kesler, he wasn't referring to hockey, he meant his "game" with the ladies, mainly his teammates girlfriends/wives.... |
