Carol have you heard of any rumours floating around outside of twitter and HB?

If you are not in favour of signing Iggy which other top free agent forward are you looking at.

I like waiting for Krug from Boston he would be a nice option

- vancouverdawg

Krug would be a nice option. Not the biggest guy, but fantastic on the PP.

From the Stephen Whyno article I linked to in the main blog, initially talking about Iginla:

It’s unclear what else the Bruins might have to do with forwards Reilly Smith, Jordan Caron and Justin Florek and defenceman Torrey Krug and Matt Bartkowski needing new deals as restricted free agents. According to CapGeek, Boston has just over $1.6-million to spend.

$1.6 million isn't enough to sign one of those players, let along all five, and Benning probably has some idea of each guys' expectations from early talks with their agents. I drool at the possibility of Krug or Reilly Smith being possible casualties of the cap crunch—they'll be the most expensive to sign and thus, maybe the most expendable?

As I mentioned before, I'm also open to the idea of Loui Eriksson from Bston, to play with the twins.

This is just spitballing but there has been chatter from insiders for two months about Miller coming here.

The question is , is Benning bringing in Miller to be back up or starter. Things would have had to gone pretty South if they have convinced him to come here as a back up.

I think one of two things have happened. 1) Benning brought in Miller to be a mentor to Lack and relieve the pressure or 2) he has a trade and Lack is part of the deal.

I think Miller is here to bring stability and mentor

- vancouverdawg

As you noted, I can't see Miller coming here to be a back-up (that would also be one expensive back-up, when you could spend money on other needs). Although I can see the one positive being Miller mentoring Lack.

As far as part 2 of your comments, I'm not sure what sort of return an unproven goaltender is worth on the market which is fairly saturated with fairly quality goalies. So can't really see any deal where Lack would be a part of.

I really do like Krug. I think if Benning was not Frieda with Boston and Linden /Seabass relationship an offer sheet could have went that way.

Grabbing some good, young players from Boston and others that need to meet the cap is what I would like to see the Canucks do. High priced free agents, no.

If they give them reallly short term contracts it might be okay. Like 1 or 2 year deals. A stop gap until the kids are ready.
