And here I thought we had normal back and forth yesterday? Have you considered that maybe I'm just misunderstood? Or that I misunderstand you? |

Tell em like it is... some peeps are overly negative - kaptaan
It's funny some peoples responses. Just because he played in Edmonton. You have to know he put up those numbers DESPITE playing in Edmonton. IF you actually took the time to analyze his game before mindlessly shooting it down-- Corsi, Shooting %, Possession, Turnovers, Where he scores from. I don't think he would be a bad fit. Especially considering that he might be had for a good price. More concerned about term. I agree that a grinder is needed on each line, but it might not be a bad experiment if the term is reasonable. Only Trev and Benning know for sure-- The twins might not even be here next year, so maybe they are just working with what they have. |

Bonino will be our 2nd line C, they have already said that. - anavar
You may have missed my post in a previous blog where I stated that Bonino was a great pickup well before Benning publicly stated where he would play. My point is I don't think you guys watch much outside of the Canucks. I watch alot of teams-- Bonino is FAST and SKILLED. He will be fine. There will be an adjustment period, but I think you guys will like him. Same goes for Sbisa... Many of you here were grumbling. I have ZERO issue with this pickup. Take your Homer glasses off guys. |

Is he really "FAST", from what I read he's an average skater that has some nice stick handling ability and good offensive IQ. |

He is an average skater. Just looks fast when on the ice against the Canucks last season. |

At least he'll help us gain valuable points in the shootout to keep us from having a better draft pick. |

I liked what I saw from him. Sure he's fast. I like his Hockey IQ as well. Tenacity is a word I would use with him. I like his puck pressure when he does not have possession. It's hard to stand out with the guys he was behind, so the additional minutes he's going to get will be interesting. I am more concerned about who is going to be playing with. In Anaheim he had some Heavy and Skilled guys to work with. Maroon ( My Pro RH buddies play with him during the summers-- Big Guy and STRONG ) is fairly skilled and plays a heavy game. It may not look like it in Fantasy Hockey Stats, but the guy can play. I believe he had DSP on his line as well and I would like to have seen him here also. Sucks we missed out on that 10th pick as part of the deadline. |

Yes... He's got great hustle and he's faster than you think. Sit back an enjoy. Beats running your fingers to death on a pointless blog.
The main point in much of this was how quick some of you guys are to write certain players off without knowing much about them. You want a nice shiny Escalade handed to you. I don't think we can afford a Matt Moulson, but I bet he would be a nice fit with the twins too ( would still prefer a righty )... Just a matter of how long Benning plans on keeping them around I suppose.
You BUILD TEAMS... You do it by finding diamonds in the rough in many cases. Guys with character. You don't go and buy a fleet of Escalades. Gillis was awful at it, but Benning just may know a thing or two about this.
When I look at the Kings... I don't see many Escalades. That is a well built TEAM. How many of you guys would have picked anyone outside of Kopitar or Doughty to be on the team?
If anything... We need an Escalade on the D Core. Those guys control / dictate the flow of the game. They push the puck up ice at will. They can make many average wingers look much better than they really are. It's too bad they couldn't land Ekblad.

“I think all my life I would say I’ve never been a bad skater, but some guys skate real well and I’ve been one of those guys who gets by with his head and his hands,” said Bonino. “Trying to make plays, being responsible — that’s what I’ll keep trying to do. |

You can pull stats... Look for quotes... etc etc. Watch him. If you have MacKinnon ( See also Escalade ) on your mind then YES... You will be disappointed. |

Lots of drama to wake up to. Miller apparently a done deal, Spezza traded. I think it's a decent deal for both teams. |

I watch more than enough Cali hockey. You sound like the Typical Spoiled Van Boy... Ultimate Pessimist. No wonder nobody wants to come here.... Jerkoff Fans.
What hockey player says about himself " Yeah... I'm really fast " -- Great way to endear yourself to a hysterically critical fan base. Maybe you are looking for LeBron.

Actually i'm just a realist. As far as the rest of it you can kiss my ass. I paid for season's tickets for years and bought tickets for years before that when the rink was half full. I also started skating when I was 3 so I'm pretty sure I know a thing or two about the game. |

No please tell me more about Mario Lemieux Nick Bonino. I sure as hell hope you have his rookie card!!!
You're the bumhole that comes in here and tells people they don't watch or know anything about hockey, yet somehow they all see a different player than you.
Shut the (frank) up about it if you disagree with everyone, or at the very least cut down on the personal attacks. |

Bro... Anyone that has been in a pro locker room knows how humble most of these guys are publicly, but you have played since you were 3 so you know this.
Guys won't publicly say anything that will get them in trouble. Especially in a new market. Let alone with their buddies where they cough up that golden phrase where they get razzed in the room the rest of the year.
Nobody said he was Mario Lemieux... Hell... Nobody said Mario was fast either.

I'm sober. It seems your drunk on Bonino though.
That speed must be so intoxicating. |
