I agree that he would do better with a non-poopty team, but Streit + him + Schenn + Amac on the same blueline scares the poop out of me defensively. - Tomahawk
The Flyers have 3 more years left of Streit.
I'd really look to explore trading Streit this off-season if possible. A step backwards now, to make a few steps forward in the future. I grew to like Streit as the year went on but for 3 more years with the team in cap hell?
I'd like to move him if they could bring in Ehrhoff. Hell I'd look to move him even if they cant. |

I don't have an issue taking a shot with him, but if you think people are upset, writing pissy articles about MacDonald, wait til they get a look at McBain. - flyler
If MacDoanld was on a 2 or 3 year deal at $3mm or so, I would never complain about him. |

I'm comfortable with either of these groupings. I would sign or acquire a compliment to McBain as the 7th man, or someone whose more defensive in style. I suggested Grossman for Matt Irwin. |

He's not bad at what he does, but he's limited in what he does. |

With cap masta Holmgren at the helm the Flyers are all ready for the UFA period - bigmookalookie
Holmgren has been promoted to the position previously held by Peter Luukko. He's busy preparing the next Carnival. Word is he's replacing Coatsey in the dunk tank this year. |

6 more years.
Do wonder if a team would be interested out there. He wouldn't give much value with that contract but I'd explore moving him. MacDonald, Streit and Wheels are or will be cap anchors on the squad imo. |

I'd be comfortable with McBain as a 7th at the most. - MJL
And maybe that's what you start him out as. Make him earn starting playing time. If he plays well, that's great for us.
IMO, hes the most talented, puck moving righty save Ehrhoff in FA. Flyers should be at least mildly interested. |

I'd say he's developed. He's almost at 300 NHL games. At this point, he can play in the top 4 of a playoff calibur team if he has a good partner. If not, he's an ok bottom pair guy who does a decent job defending and can move the puck.
I think he'd rebound big time in Philly. It would without question be one of the more talented if not the most talented roster he's ever played with. - mochoson
He's developed into a poor man's Streit who is defensively inferior to Streit. I don't know if I'd call that developed. |

CSNPhilly :
With free agency less than two weeks away, Hextall is severely impeded from doing anything without cap relief.
In fact, Hextall admitted it doesn’t make any sense for the Flyers to interview prospective free agents during the grace period the new CBA allows -- which began Wednesday -- because they don’t have enough money to sign anyone.
Hextall comes into this NHL draft with a pair of handcuffs on his wrists.

Not every free agent. Any free agent. I'm gonna go with cap problems for $100 Alex. - Flyers_01
Where's the direct quotes from Holmgren? The Flyers have 4.7M to play with just with putting Pronger on LTIR. If they can trade Lecavalier, they have more. They can waive and demote Rosehill, and waive and or demote Rinaldo to get 1.4M more. This can all be easily shown with the numbers and simple math.
They absolutely can makes somoe moves and have some money to spend. |

I despise cap talk, but Pronger's LTIR wouldn't come into play until they can place him on LTIR once the season starts no?
His cap hit counts in the off-season but I could be wrong here.

If they plan to move him, they'd better do it soon while the shine of Capuano (mis)using him as a top-pair guy has yet to wear off completely. |

If the Flyers want to add Ehrhoff and he'll agree to sign here. The Flyers can make that happen. Even if they can't move Lecavalier. - MJL
You keep saying this how is this possible? Flyers cannot use Pronger's full LTIR benefits until day 2 of season. Not to mention they are 3 players short of a 22 man roster and -200k over cap. |

I'm not against adding him. Look at a player like jake Muzzin. Let go by some teams, and now he's a good player in LA. I'm just not going to pencil him in, for a top 6 role right off the bat. |

I'd look to unload 1 of the two now.
If the Flyers cant move Streit, then I'd be moving MacDonald. One of the two. I'd prefer the former because no matter how good he looked last year... 3 more years isn't too appealing. |

That's not true. There are other options. And that option would be on the first day of the season, not the 2nd. |

They can use his benefits.
They either need to be under $69mm by the start of the season or $4.91mm over to maximize his benefits. If they're at $69.5mm, they get only $500K of benefits |
