I've tooted my Kulemin and Redmond horns to death... so here's a new one:

Paul Ranger... think he's still only 80% up to speed... when/if he gets back to 100%, he's a top-4 guy for sure.

Good one...I was kicking him and Gibbons around

Let's see -- PK Subban is restricted, but an offer sheet isn't going to work. Or yes, they could sign Thomas Vanek, but the subsequent moves would male.that less likely.

Stuff like that; yes, they could sign Paul.Statsny, but they probably won't have interest.

- AllInForFlyers

You defined examples of unrealistic players, but I want to know what's realistic. Strictly speaking, we can't sign anyone currently without exceeding the cap limit (until we can LTIR Captain SuperAwesome), so if we're going to say players asking for $1.5M or less, we can go from there.

Subject change, anyone? Who is the one player out there in FA that you would like the Flyers to sign that is a realistic option?

True, but the Flyers had the choice to sign Carle or Grossmann long before the season ended, and went with Grossmann.

Again, different situation, as there were far fewer comparables in UFA to Carle that year than there are for MacDonald this year

- Jsaquella

Again, we have to differ on the comparables.

Well, in the first place, me being able to list 8-10 potential free agents who are similar to MacDonald shows there's not really a lack of talent. Also, three of the guys I mentioned took less money or less term or both(Markov, Hainsey & Nikitin) than MacDonald got.
- Jsaquella

Disagree. Anyone can put a list together. Doesn't mean that they are similar. They may be in your opinion. That doesn't mean that they are. The Flyers may value MacDonald more then you do. Just as they value Grossmann more then you do.

Nikitin is not as good as MacDonald is in my opinion. Neither in Hainsey. Markov is better, but how old is he? Is that not a factor in the term that he signed for?
And were the players available to the Flyers?

I come for the company. Not the squabbles. I feel like a gold miner here on some days. Often times I learn a few nuggets of really cool interesting things about hockey or the Flyers, or even a person on the board. You just have to filter out the rest...
- FlyersGrace

I know for one, I often comment on the other commentors and I've done it time and time again and I've proven to be right.

What you're saying about mines and gold and nuggets is purely hearsay as there hasn't proven to be nuggets or gold nor has it been found. Show me one time that the nugget was found.

Meh, good player, but I'm not addressing 4C on July 1. I'll circle back to see what's available September 1.

Let's make it...$3 million or so, the limit. I would like to.think.that somehow, they might be able to.open up.a.little room to dabble on Day 1 or Day 2, late

I think he'd be a great fit on that 3rd line. I was really hoping he'd come here on a cheap deal last year.

Then again, our genius fans cheering him as he lay near dead on the ice and then booing when he came to probably didn't make him all warm and fuzzy to come here.

Chad Johnson at about $900K/year for 2 years would be my #1 target if he'd take it.

If he is the second best dman on the team and is not better than he was last year, then I doubt we make the playoffs.
