He had 18 goals and 43 points. Anaheim expects to get him for less then 1.05M? - MJL
Exactly my point. His point's per/60 is off the charts. Him not getting a qualifying offer to me is just nutty. |

We need to move on and let go of this whole AMac was a bad signing thing.
we can't predict the future and a mere 2 weeks ago, everyone was talking about how there were going to be no decent D men available this summer and Niskanen was going to get a ridiculous amount of money because of it.
And I am willing to bet that some of these things have happened because the cap is below what was expected which has had major ripple effects.
Lets think about the opposite scenario for a moment. Suppose they didn't sign AMac and not of these other guys were available. It wouldn't be inconceivable that he would have gotten 6M a year if the Flyers waited.
What we should be more upset about is that we couldnt move VL to colorado for PA |

I'm starting to wonder if Streit might be the odd man out on the blueline. With Kimmo coming back for another year, he would QB the 1st PP unit. AMac would get those duties on the 2nd PP, and unlike Streit would get time on the PK. Even though Streit is a 35+ contract, he still is a very effective point man on the PP who could still get 50 points in a season if placed on someone's first unit. Streit gets sheltered on 5 on 5, but he's not Andy Delmore either.
Much like Hartnell was a possibility to being traded, but never thought as a serious candidate. I can Streit moved along this offseason. |

No, but it would limit the return they'd get even more than it would be right now. If they're gonna do that, I'd prefer they trade him before the start of UFA period and then go in guns blazing. - jmatchett383
wow.... ufa period starts in a few hours.... your going to let Grossman still on the roster not going after Ehrhoff. Doesn't make sense to me. |

I wouldn't be surprised if any defenseman, other than Kimmo and Coburn, was traded. |

Who would take Streit? When Timonen retires next year, are you comfortable with Amac being our best offensive defenseman/ powerplay quarterback? |

They sheltered him quite a bit. I'm surprised they didn't qualify him though. At the very least, they could have traded him. |

I believe the PP runs mainly through G on the half boards. I'm not sure having a superior point man on the first unit is vital. Kimmo is more of a distributor, then a booming shot from the point. I could see Ghost being groomed for that role in two years.
Also, I don't think Hexy would be done remodeling the blueline by simply trading Streit. My hope would be to bring in a comparable d-man at a lower rate and term, or swing for the fences to acquire a younger, promising two-way d-man. With events during the draft, obviously they are still looking for a potential stud on the blueline and willing to use significant assets to acquire one. |
