i guess by then ghost would get a fair look at the task - stayinthefnnet
Maybe, but I would give him a year in the AHL before I traded away a player that he could replace in the future. |

There's a guy who is sitting pretty. Got a bunch of money to not play for Buffalo. And now can pick his team and name his price for the most part.

Garth Snow might want him back lol... especially after the way they were spurned by Dan Boyle. - Tomahawk
If the proposed ownership change happens, Snow is definitely fighting for his job. Certainly I'm not suggesting him acquiring Streit is a remote possibility, but highly doubt Garth is going to just sit on the sidelines July 1st.

oh yeah.
hes still damn good too. i can see why they bought him out due to the recapture threat.
but he can still bring it. |

I believe the PP runs mainly through G on the half boards. I'm not sure having a superior point man on the first unit is vital. Kimmo is more of a distributor, then a booming shot from the point. I could see Ghost being groomed for that role in two years.
Also, I don't think Hexy would be done remodeling the blueline by simply trading Streit. My hope would be to bring in a comparable d-man at a lower rate and term, or swing for the fences to acquire a younger, promising two-way d-man. With events during the draft, obviously they are still looking for a potential stud on the blueline and willing to use significant assets to acquire one. - ravishingone
While it runs mainly through Giroux, the whole umbrella needs to be able to distribute the puck for that set-up to be effective. |

I would trade Streit to go after Ehrhoff. - MJL
I think he would have decent value in a trade. He's makes a good first pass to get the puck out of the defensive zone. Also, Streit is such a weapon at the point with his shot. Sure his age and 3 years left are a concern, but Streit has never been known as a puck carrying d-man to get through the neutral zone. So any loss of mobility of the next few years isn't going to effect his game that much.

The latter is about term. - MJL
I'm sure.
Danny only has a year left and I wouldn't be surprised if the habs ate part of his salary.
Its the extra 5th that burns me.
Vinny's market isn't even the 5th right now.
Unless the upshall stuff is for real.
What are the buy out terms? is it 1/3 the AAV over double the years? |

And I hope y'all stop trading away my least favorite Pens. It's a lot easier to hate y'all when Matt Cooke, James Neal, and Tyler Kennedy are on the roster. |

Understood, it doesn't mean they can't acquire someone with the cap savings from moving Streit, if they don't feel comfortable handing that responsibility to one of the young kids after next year.

No salary was retained in the Briere deal. Let's keep in mind that if Lecavalier is going to be traded, it's likely going to happen after July 1, and that 2M bonus is paid.
