so Nashville wanted the Flyers to retain 50% of VL's deal (they were OK paying for 2 years)?

can a team retain 50%?

- Marc D

No I think it didnt want the full cap all four years, so maybe we would would have to pick up 50% of the first or last two years of the deal...At least thats my understanding

Seriously, though, a team can't pay more during certain seasons, can they?

- PhillySportsGuy

Maybe Tim just worded it poorly or something. I'm assuming Nashville just wants the Flyers to keep 50% of the contract, spread out equally over the 4 years. Still funny

I wonder if this means Vinny would actually waive for Nashville, or if they're working a deal out first and asking later i.e. Spezza
- eayost

good point!

maybe it will be like Gorges, try and trade and then get the "hell no I'm not going to Toronto"

I heard they might be after Iginla and Boyle to add veteran leadership to that young core they have there

Parenteau is overpaid, kind of a salary dump there

- Marc D

Let's see the Flyers trade VL for a player similar to Parenteau, Hell I would rather have Parenteu than Umberger.

@DarrenDreger: Robidas' agent, Pat Brisson says the demand for the veteran d-man is overwhelming. At least 8 teams interested. List cut down tonight.#TSN

Who knows whats up his sleeve. They are pretty stacked at forward. They have an elite goalie and a burgeoning #1 defenseman. I don't know if he's targeting one particular player. He may look to add a few decent players and really strengthen their depth.

hmm me too

does not look good for VL moving on

they should just let him scrimmage with Rosey and Rino, he'll probably retire after a month or two

it seems like there was a mad scramble to clear salary after Ehrhoff was bought out.

I think it's him or niskanen

VL was never going to be moved before tomorrow. Let's see how things play out. Just because our esteemed hockey writers haven't gotten anything from him doesn't mean they don't have something worked out.

Ehrhoff is a huge difference maker. He might be the best unrestricted free agent available.

After tomorrow... $8 million of VL's contract will be paid out.... Leaving $14.5 for the final 4 seasons. That's $4 million, $4.5 million, $3 million, and $3 million respectively for an average of $3.625 million. I honestly don't think the flyers will have to bite the bullet on this one to find a taker and that teams are just posturing to see what Hexy will do. If they have the cap space he is very affordable in real $$$.

We shall see.... Maybe I'm wrong.

We shall see what happens tomorrow. Hextall has really been left with a pile of poop in his lap.

The players I would like to see moved to acquire some cap space are VL and Grossmann. These players have basically zero value.

I feel like tomorrow will be frustrating to watch players that could really help this team go elsewhere cause of bad signings and salary cap management....I have been so frustrated by the lack of urgency by this organization to get Giroux another winger of similar talent and a nose for goals...I equate it to having Mcnabb and that defense for all those years and refusing to get a star receiver here and when we did we went to the super bowl....Even if TO and Mcnabb are both a couple of poop heads....
