All stuff you don't need to rush and sign on day 1 of free agency.

I can't disagree with your favoritism of Kane over Moulson and Vanek. Signing the latter two, would create salary cap problems down the road that they are experiencing right now.

The team is going to have to get more scoring out of Coots and B. Schenn this year. Since both are still very young, the hope there is still another level of development to ascend this season scoring wise.

- ravishingone

I actually think Vanek would flourish here. Frankly, I think he should of stayed in NY and play with Tavaras, but like you said there is this silly little thing called the salary cap....As far as relying on B Schenn and Coots to score more, this premise scares me simply because I dont see them as the type of players who are ever going to be a primary or secondary source of offense behind Giroux...Coots is a great shut down center who has higher scoring upside imho, B Schenn I dont see the hype with him, I look at him as a good, not great talent, which is why I wouldnt mind if he is dealt....Assuming were getting a good piece back

per Sam Carchidi:
Hextall wants to add a veteran as his 7th Dman; he doesn't want a young D man from the Phantoms getting rusty being a healthy NHL scratch.

can't wait to see who the 7th D man is going to be

somewhere along the lines of Gervais to Hall Gill

That is the key for this team to be successful for now and 5 to 6 years down the line. But they need to be put in more favorable positions. Schenn stay at one position and Coots more offensive time.
- Deasr1

I think Berube should move Schenn to LW. Here is a scenario with Vinny still on the team.

Schenn-G-Voracek
Umberger-Coots-Read
Raffl-Laughton-Simmonds
Alderson/Akeson-Vinny-Frenchie

You get to roll four lines and I'm not concerned with Simmonds being on a supposed third line because he does a lot of his damage on the first PP. They could still spot Vinny with favorable match-up and give the Coots line some more offensive zone starts with support from the Laughton line. Even if you want to change the lines around, there is still good depth even with Hartnell gone. Although I would like to move Vinny and insert Dominic Moore on the 4th line. He could take further pressure off Laughton.

There is just something about those lines that is not enticing.

I'm hoping Laughton is with the phantoms most of the year. No keys to the golden crapper anymore, oh unless you have an NMC of course

I'd be willing to bet we could get Sami Kapenan to play back up goal cheap. And he would be good too.

If the draft rumors were true, certainly one could assume B. Schenn could be available in the right deal. I just believe we haven't seen both guys reach their ceiling being 22 and 21 years of age. I believe they can be more productive. I don't want to sell low like JVR.

If they trade B Schenn for a chance at potential #1 dman like Bogosian fine, but to trade a 2nd pairing guy like Yandle no thanks.
