I dont want to hear anymore of Jason Akeson. Never gonna be a star or whatever anyone thinks he might be. Kid is just a phantom. period - GOA88
Hextall said in an interview they will definitely be qualifying him. So take it up with Ron. |

All choices. They could've left Briere on LTIR and left Giroux in the minors. What's the end result? They made the Flyers better. Isn't that what matters? It's not mismanagement. - MJL
Yes they were choices... choices they were forced to make because of mismanaged cap. Had they even had a little wiggle room they would have been able to bring G up without making trades..

Thats why I said there are only very few goalies that deserve those deals. Have Rask, Quick or Lundqvist been given 9 year deals at 30?
Honestly, I dont think there is a team in the league right now that would sign Hank for a 7-8 year deal at 5.8 mil... Its TOO dangerous. You are investing a ton of money and time in a guy who could teak a hip and be a shell of his former self. Thats bad cap management. And it bit the Flyers in the ass.
The fact that they have the most expensive defense in the league is 100% proof of cap mismanagement. - jak521
I think that theory would be proved wrong the minute Lundqvist would hit free agency, if it happened.
And it's the opposite, the fact that even with the Pronger injury, they're still able to spend a lot of money towards the defense, is not mismanagement. If they were too tied up to add replacements, that would point to mismanagement. |

OMG. Someone who has heard of La Fin Du Monde. I might have a heart attack. - FlyersGrace
Haha..Yeah, that is my "Zombie Apocalypse" beer. Like if the world really is ending (as the name suggests), or if I'm ever on death row, it's the beer I would actually drink. I always keep one in the fridge for rainy days. Or days that in in y.
And for those who haven't tried La Fin, you only need ONE. 750 ML and 9 or 9.5% alcohol. Ok, maybe two lol.
Have you tried St. Bernardus or Tripel Van De Garre? Both of those are nice as well. For a cheaper American substitute, I actually like Matilda much better than Blue Moon. |

You've made enumerous posts including on this thread of why the Flyers should move Lecavalier. Not once has it included because they mismanaged the Cap. The reasons being given have ranged from not playing well, declining, to not fitting into Berube's system of play. So which is it, are the moving him because of those reasons, or because they've mismanaged the cap? And were they mismanaging the cap last season when they had the cap space to sign Lecavalier? And if Lecavalier had played well last year and fit in well, and had not been injured, would they still be trying to give him away? So what are the reasons why the Flyers are looking to move Lecavalier? - MJL
Guy, it doesn't always have to be this serious. Who gives a poop what the reason is? They are trying to get rid of him. It doesn't need to be 30 pages of back and forth again. |

Why argue about the cap at all? Once Rosehill and Rinaldo get waived we get 1.4 Mil for that back-up goalie.

Let me get this straight.. The Flyers GM openly states that they are in a bind because of the Cap, openly admits that they are exploring options with Vinny, traded Hartnell and states that those two years will be important going forward.... But they have no issues with their cap? - jak521
The Flyers every year do some maneuvering with the Cap. Show me where Hextall said the team was in a bind? Making a deal to be better positioned in the future with the cap, is managing the cap. Not mismanaging it.
Things change with regards to a player. One player that is core player can become a player that a team wants to move a few years later. That's not mismanagement. It's the evolution of a team, and of players. |

Deciding what a player is worth, and then spending money on that player is all part of cap management. They go hand in hand. So spending 30 million on defense, and not having a #1 d-man, shows how they over spend for mediocrity. They have the most expensive group of 4-5-6 d-men in the league! All my opinion of course |

And losing A #1 defenseman to a career ending injury isn't a big factor on why they added players. If Pronger didn't get hurt, do they trade for Grossmann? Do they sign Streit? Every defenseman on the Flyers is a solid defenseman. |

Exactly, with a healthy Pronger still around, you are most likely aren't going to have Grossmann, Streit and possibly AMac in the fold. |

•Anthony Petrelli: A commenter on MLHS said that Philly Sports Radio 94WIP was saying that the Flyers have three offers from Vincent Lecavalier: Scottie Upshaw from the Panthers, Tim Gleason from the Maple Leafs and draft picks from the Stars. |

They weren't forced to make them, they made a choice. It seems as though if a team doesn't have an unlimited amount of cap space to make every move possible, then they have mismanaged the cap. When a player is put on LTIR, as Briere was, other players are called up to replace that player. A GM is not going to sit back and let his team sit shorthanded when an injury to a key player occurs, when you expect to contend. Now when you add players and it's time to bring a top player off of LTIR, then choices have to be made.
Exactly what has Upshall done that is so great since he left the Flyers, that make it such a big loss? |
