Ryan Miller would be the 15th goalie in the league to have a cap hit of 5M or more. At this point that's around what you have to play for an "average goalie".

He's all for it, because our unproductive old guys need older productive players to make them productive.

fixed.

As long as you know what you are getting into I guess.

Iggy showed he can still play, can he still play 3 years down the road? I dunno, but hopefully that is when the youth is pushing for more playing time and maybe we have to trade him or buy him out of his last year. (hopefully the youth is still at a reasonable price or on their entry level contracts).

Whomever we sign, goalie or top6 winger, I want the term 3 years or less and prefer two years...

The smarter move is to go cheap unless you have a truly elite(or top tier)goalie on your hands or available via UFA/trade.

Speaking of which, where is the old bastard. I though his ban was over. I need his take on singing Miller and Iggy to play with the Sedins.
- Linden_4_Capt

It is over. He is hoping Iggy gets signed. Not sure how he feels about Miller

Problem is you have to give up assets unless the guy is a UFA, don't like it but I'd rather go with the UFA at this point.

The kids are 3-4 years away from making an impact in the NHL so why not make a push for the playoffs from now till then. It's that or tank for McDavid or Eichel next summer.

Was the offer that bad?

Going from assumed career ending injury to the AHL and barely getting back into the NHL... then- to thanks, but no thanks I will test the market... ballsy!

There's isn't a top tier goalie available, so I say stay cheap with Lack/Markstrom.

Wonder if Minny signs him. Their fans were petty upset when they didn't draft him.

Does Benning have something against the vertically challenged?

No - bad idea!! Markstrom at this point is not an NHL ready goaltender. Important to have someone competent in there to share the load with Lack...whom I really really like!!!

kinda surprise by this, kinda not. If we did qualify him would he have to clear waivers to be in Utica? If so, why not qualify then send him. If someone claims him then so be it, losing him that way would be better? no?

Agreed with this, as much as I'd like to stick with Lack/Markstrom, I really don't see that as a viable option unless Markstrom improves drastically over the summer. Buddy needs a lot of work to get back to his potential.

A full off-season to work with Melanson. He turns 25 during next season and is waiver eligible.

Did he not draft Pominville in the 2nd round? Writing off everyone under 6 feet seems stupid.

You need to show the players you're committed, need a better goaltender than Markstrom because he doesn't give the team a chance to win when he's in the net. Too many holes in his game right now.

to the idea.

Seems like he was caught between two different coaches and then gm's... not sure about Schroeder's true potential, but injuries didn't help. Hope he gets a chance somewhere else or gives Europe a go and we see him back in the league later.
