Miller/Lack vs Lack/Markstrom = really???
- LeftCoaster

Obviously Miller/Lack is better, but in terms of value per dollar spent, it's not even close when comparing both.

Gentleman's bet, Lack will have a better S% and GAA than Miller this year?

Gentle men's bet Miller gets the tougher teams this year

I think they Nancys are saying, above all, that the money would have been better spent upgrading our forward core. Would you not agree?
- AlexF

He's in denial man. Give it up.

I think he had his mind set on STL, hometown team and a contender. Likely left years on the table that another team would have gave him.
- Nucker101

Who knows but I agree that it was unlikely he'd have accepted the same offer from the Canucks.

Early leaders for worst deals: Orpik, Bolland, Pouliot, Cammalleri. Miss any?

- LeftCoaster

Miller.

I would have liked to have had Cammalleri ($5m is fine; 5 years is a little scary) and Ehrhoff ($4m for 1 year! Damn). NYR signed Dan Boyle to a good contract, too. Other than that, not much out there I care about. Let's see if we can get Iggy.

Honestly, who know what would have become of Lack as a starter for a whole season? He started strong and was looking very beatable towards the end of the season. Miller is a very capable goalie. He's not the icon he once was but he should win us more games than Lack would have, at least for the next 2 years. And Lack can shine as a back up, getting 20-30 starts. Seems like a good situation.

Exactly, but I guess some here would rather do a 15 year rebuild and not watch hockey beyond April until the 30s

Gentleman's bet - at least 3 Canucks go on IR by Christmas after being thrown under the bus by Miller.

Guessing Benning feels more comfortable dealing with players from the east?

Again, who gives them the puck? Henrik might be a twin, but we don't have cloning technology yet. Whatever, it's only the first day of FA and I can see what the braintrust of the Canucks are thinking. This next year is going to be a throwaway, no matter WHAT Linden and Benning say, we still have cap space and once teams figure out that they're in cap hell, we can take advantage.

Bonino is supposed to be a skilled player, he's a better playmaker than Kesler. Vey is supposed to be a skill, pass-first player as well. I don't buy your argument that we should sign Miller because the playmaking isn't good enough to sign a scorer...

After the RFA signings, not much more. Maybe 4 or 5m?

Hiller got beat out by his backups also. 4.5 for a backup.

torts is the gift that keeps on giving....
Plays Lack 14 times in a month and 19 straight in a compressed schedule so he gets too exhausted to show he's a #1. So we sign Miller

STL just let Miller walk after giving up a decent amount to bring him in.

Bonino and Vey are meant to be decent passers. We don't have Ryan "Who needs linemates?" Kesler out there any more.

Well we have 2 players earning "elite" money. They should be expected to put up 90+ "elite" points/year. With a top 6 addition that can compliment or support, we may be able to compete. If they can't put up 90+ points f-it, get rid of them, that's where your real issue lies.

Yeah, weird post. If Bonino isn't a better passer than Kesler we're (frank)ed.
