Flames Coyotes yes Jets Oilers no - VANTEL
I don't think any of those teams improved enough to think that will be the case |

Really? I mean just how far can one excel in Buffalo? I think his past is littered with disappointment, not in his own play but that of others. (I say that because of the history of locker room blowouts) But I think the Canucks could use some locker room blow outs. We suffer from complacency and he could be the remedy.
I like the term - it will make Room for development by Lack. I see lack like Reimer who was pushed to a #1 in a rabid Canadian market too soon. Ruined him.

Those teams were awful for a few years that's where the Doughtys and Kanes and Toews come from. I think the Canucks have done a pretty good job firing and getting rid of bodies of late, so no complaints there if that's the secret. Without overspending on free agents (except the Miller waste), youth will get a chance this year. I don't care if they don't make the playoffs. Just want to see a renewal. If Benning is good at drafting and developing, then they will start to turn the corner. Also with the cap, top teams can't hang on as long as in the past as stars get paid more and more and there is some wastage on role players, but inevitably not enough money to go around for valuable third and fourth liners or five and six defense and the top teams fall. If done right the Canucks could be back in a few years. - bazz
I guess I was just thinking about how, at one time, Boston, Chicago and Vancouver were pretty even. But those two teams were able to make tough choices and stay at the top or at least stay very competitive until a return to the top.

Boston and Chicago had younger stars and were drafting better. Big difference. |

Speaking of Buffalo - Is Josh Georges the only hockey player in NHL history to run down a trade to the Leafs and opt for Buffalo instead?
That's a major blow to the ego. |

Well, someone who they respected that is.
I am amazed neither Torts or Gillis have been picked up by another organization yet. |

Lack is going to be just fine people.
He needs to transition from a back-up to a starter, not be thrust into it. Miller is here for three years, by that time Lack is 30. The perfect age for the coming-out party for a goalie.
Miller will also bring credibility and entertainment. Lack would need to earn credibility ... and don't get me wrong, I like Lack very much.
Just imagine in either Lack or Markstrom (who I have never seen) went down to injury.... just go there and think. |

Miller is 33 and considered past his prime. Becoming a starter at 30 is not ideal |
