I guess I was just thinking about how, at one time, Boston, Chicago and Vancouver were pretty even. But those two teams were able to make tough choices and stay at the top or at least stay very competitive until a return to the top.

I agree with you there. The Gillis years were horrible for drafting and developing. Look at Schroeder as the perfect example. I think Benning is the guy to draft and develop. However, the Miller signing for $6 million does scare me.

This is a big reason why I am not pissed at the Miller deal. We have an attractive trade chip.
