To be fair, if I lived in Toronto, and I was a Leafs fan, I'd feel slighted too. I'd also be about as pissed at my team as I was during the Rolston/Regier tenure. A somewhat valuable player just picked the worst team in the league, who plays in one of the smallest markets in professional sports, with a reputation of being a dump, some of which is warranted and some that is not. I'm glad Gorges picked Buffalo, as the Sabres can use him, but this should serve as a wake up call to the Toronto Maple Leafs as an organization. Hopefully, it doesn't, however. - buffalofan19

I think I would take a chance on trading Hodgson for Chiasson straight up. He is huge.
The only hesitation would be who Chiasson played with last year and if that contributed to his success. |

If that were completely true, Tyler Myers would have been traded in March. - buffalofan19
He's been trying. Myers and Hodgson's contracts are garbage. Neither is a 5.5 mil player, more like 3.5.......he despises those deals just like he did Ehrhoffs |

I've learned to ignore it. The Wall Street Journal wrote an article not too long ago comparing Buffalo to North Korea. We've been the butt of jokes for years, and to be honest, not all of it is undeserved. It seems to be turning around, but until it actually is accomplished, I've accepted the fact that every newspaper has employees who are looking to get reactions such as yours. He did his job. The best way to stop press like that is to ignore it. |

No it doesnt. I still think the Sabres Bring in at least one more vet next year.
Myers Gorges
Meszaros Pysyk (if he can go to the AHL one more year he might)
Weber Ruhwedel/FA/Trade
I think Risto and McCabe are in the AHL next year, and Pysyk too if eligible. They dont want to rush them, and having them all down with the Amerks, gives them a shot at a Calder. |

Hodgson wasn't a problem - SABRES 89
Doesn't have to be a problem, but there is going to be a logjam of centers soon enough... And IMO Hodgson is going to be the odd one out. |

Steve Ott has been around town (working with charity at the walden galleria recently), so I would not be surprised to see him sign in Buffalo a few days from now.
I have a feeling that Cody Hodgson may be on his way out of town in a trade soon.
Perhaps to Ottawa, which would be interesting or as part of a package to San Jose.
My personal favourite would be to get a package deal done with Winnipeg......Kane, Byfuglin, Pavelec for Hodgson, Hackett, Flynn, Adam and a pick (or some combination like that). The team did not like the way Hodgson played at center and he likes to play center.
I would not be surprised if Buffalo signed another defenseman, like Volchenkov (cut loose by NJ). This guy blocks a lot of shots (91 last year) and in Ottawa he played with Mezzaros.....this would give the young fellas time to play full out in Rochester.
Myers, Jorges, Weber, Pysyk, along with the Ottawa boys spelled by whoever is doine well in Rochester.
Also would not be surprised to see Ruhwedel dealt to the Hawks with a pick for Hjalmarson or straight up for Oduya because Chicago has cap trouble right now and next year.....well there is Kane and Toew likely at $10 million each - RicoMartin

I just sent him an email laughing at his bitterness. Told him there's a reason why guys like Gorges, Richards, Spezza and so on didn't want to play for Toronto.
What a loser. |

Yeah... Both of those contracts are great. Did you see what he is paying the forwards he signed today. And what he is about to pay for Ennis. Both of those contracts are easily movable if he can get the return he wants. I cant imagine he would get the return he would need for Myers. Unfortunately its going to be 2 years or so until he knows how well Myers is really going to progress in the current system. He stated that a 1st round pick in the 20s wasn't worth what he values Myers. |

Depending on how the draft goes next year, both Ennis and Hodgson could end up being out in a couple of years. They've already seemed to be resigned to having Hodgson play the wing, and Ennis is far more effective up the middle than he is on the wing. They'll both be moved by 2016. |

Not getting too excited, just wouldn't be all that disappointed if we traded Hodge. I like him, but with some of the talent that is going to be coming in here, he may become expendable... We can't just move every center to wing, either. As someone said earlier, you gotta let some of the wingers play wing. |

There are very few wingers on this roster that I want playing wing in 2016 and beyond. |
