OK. Then why tank? Pittsburgh only has one with four top three picks and probably two of the best four NHL players.
Chicago I can't argue against.
Los Angeles, beside Doughty and Schenn, not many top picks.
Boston, no.
Anaheim, Getz and Perry taken 19th and 28th. - rmiethaner
LA still sucked, and picked high. Boston took some players high, and used others for trade bait. IMO the rebuild is the best way to find long-term success, rather than a patch-job in free agency, |

I am on the side of one cup as well.
I used to say I would never trade the Bills four consecutive AFC Championships for one Super Bowl because of how much fun I had during those years, but one would have been nice.
Sports are supposed to be fun. I want to go to a game and enjoy myself. Not hope they lose. I don't want to watch this season like I did last year. |

If the Sabres were to go the free agency "patch-job" route, they'd be at least another decade from winning a championship. Darcy Regier put this team in a position where they needed to tank in order to get out of this whole. That was his last plan before he was fired. Tim Murray is simply the one seeing it through.
Make no mistake, this is still a tank job. They picked up some solid "example setters", but they're not top tier free agents. If they weren't tanking, they'd be going after the Spezzas, Richards's, and Niskanens of Free Agency. They probably wouldn't have bought Ehrhoff out either if they intended to win games this year. |

I know, this FA is certainly not a patch job. Just saying I'd much rather wait and rebuild than do a patch job like so many other mediocre teams try. |

Honest question for everyone about tanking….Do you want it to produce multiple cups, or just one cup? - rmiethaner
Lets start with one and then go from there. Right now, i like one better than none. |

They will absolutely still suck but I'd wager they win more this year |

Exactly. I think Gionta, for example is going to be valuable, but I'm not sure there was any other team in this league willing to give him $4.25 million per year. |

Probably. It's going to be hard to do worse, for the very fact that they probably won't refuse to play for their coach for the first 2 months of the season. It's still not going to be enough to get them out of the bottom 3. |

Did we trade our 2016 2nd or the Wilds pick for Gorges? If it's the Wilds you can add him to the list |
