Murray may not have a choice. He's got $20 million he needs to spend, most of which isn't going to be covered by returning Free Agents. The only players that are going to be interested are ones the Sabres significantly outbid others for, or players that nobody else will offer a contract to.

I think that's more or less the long term plan rather than the short term with these older vets.

I agree. But seeing as all but like 4-5 guys are going to be under 26, in the near future, we're just going to somewhat be push overs still. With guys like Foligno, Myers, (Weber), Girgensons, Kaleta, Stewart and Deslauriers growing their games physically, we're certainly headed in the right direction. Additions of Baptiste, Compher, Lemieux, Zadorov, Larsson and Kea & Catenacci later on, this team has a very bright future when it comes to being very difficult to play against.

Short term, we're growing. These vet guys other than Ott are just much needed vets. We're not going to be the Bruins, physically next year. But we're sure as poop on our way.

Well, Gionta does have ties to the area, so I suppose it's possible. What makes me think that it won't happen, is that Murray isn't interested. They're trying to get bigger. And Gionta is pretty much a peanut.

We cleared our vets for mutual benefit, despite the fact Moulson and Ott expressed interest in staying.

I'm betting you're wrong about some of these guys, but we'll find out soon.

Murray did an interview for the NHL XM station yesterday. They asked him how he felt Ehrhoff's play was last year. He said he wasn't going to comment on it, but that the team in general was bad and it's unacceptable.
