Good explanation of the Ehrhoff trade. To make the risk of the recpature penalty worth it, Murray needed a compelling offer and didn't get it. Risk outweighed reward so he went with the option he knew wouldn't come back and bite him in the ass when it came time to pay the studs we've been drafting the past couple/few years.

O'Brian may fit that mold. He's LH d-man (see Ehrhoff) who probably wants to extend his NHL legacy as long as possible. He can help protect these kids, tho he's not going translate to wins. I think that fits here.
