Was trying to think of a deal that didn't involve saad or TT.......not sure what else the hawks have (that they'd move) that Murray would be interested in
- sensarmy_11

Hawks really are a hard fit unless you build around a deal involving Sharp. If Ottawa takes 1/2 cap on Spezza it is a tremendous deal for Chicago. Not sure Sharp makes any sense to Ottawa a couple of years out.

if we're adding smith ( a good player on great contract ) and retaining salary on spezza, it absolutely has to be leddy AND shaw, and no versteeg
- sensarmy_11

I'd rather trade Greening than Smith...

They said the same about MacArthur. Like someone on this thread said, Pouliot is just a late-bloomer.

Depth guy that can contribute here and there on the score board, that will cost the sens alot of PK time.

He's nothing more than that.

One of the players I really wanted the Rangers to re-sign. Not the best defensively, and takes the stupid penalty occasionally in a crucial spot, but plays hard, goes to the net and has great shot. Have a feeling this year will be a really good year for him. Possible 2nd line player but really solid 3rd line. Would be a waste to put him on the 4th line.

Ok, no Zack Smith, but no Shaw.

Spezza (salary retained) and Prince (?) for Leddy, Clendening, and 2nd round draft pick.

Yep told you guys they were targeting him about six weeks ago? They scouted him heavy in the playoffs.

Another scoop for me.

Late bloomer, great fit, best years ahead.

Meh... Spatso has been talking about the benefits of trading spezza for years.

Stone is a very underrated player. He's easily a top-6 winger
Depends on who we get for Spezza or how Michalek plays this coming season in order to decide who will play on the 2nd line
2nd: (trade from Spezza/Michalek/Pouliot)-Zib-Stone
Hoffman can play 3rd line wing if Pouliot moves up.

- TheCalSen

So the guy that has 8 points in 23 nhl games is easily a top 6 forward? Not saying he won't be but just wondering what makes you so sure he is a for sure top 6 guy?

The most surprising Dman to me right now is Cody Franson. How does he lead NHL D in hits (2nd overall) -- he is a great puck mover and picked up 33 point! He better get a pay raise or... maybe someone offer sheet?

would assume murray would want atleast one forward.

i like the deal a lot in terms of value, not sure murray will move him for 2 d-men though.....which is why i'm not sure the deal works. if Saad, TT, and shaw are untouchable, there arent' any other forwards (obviously not including guys like toews, kane, etc) who would be worth it IMO.

If Spezza had more than a year left on his contract (and the Sens still ate salary), then absolutely. BUT, a second rounder is still valuable in a draft that should be deep.

Saad is absolutely untouchable, and the 'Hawks are very hesitant on moving TT as well. Shaw isn't necessarily "untouchable" but he is likely staying put unless the 'Hawks have an opportunity to land a player they can't pass up.

you mean like a PPG center, who could play with kane and likely help him score 45-50 goals.

It's his potential I think that most people look at. He's taken some serious strides (intended ) in his improvement since being drafted.

He certainly has top 6 potential, it's all about reaching it. He's very young, put him with Zib and maybe Ryan, i'd like to see what he can do.

I don't mind Franson, he's a great pp guy, puts up decent numbers and he makes some nice hits but his play in his own end is brutal. He will probably be asking alot aswell.

Ehrhoff is looking for 4-5 years at $5M per Bob McKenzie reporting on the NHL Network.

Would ya?

Sounds like Niskanen is asking 7 years 6 per. Aiming high but probably ballpark to what he'll get.
