The thugs go out and beat up the entire other team, rendering them too injured to play (although, you'd never be able to tell if they're really hurt or not, so you need to just kill them), including the goalie. Then your 1 good player just scores like 120 goals.

No, because you need to be able to field a full team in baseball, and hockey and football (and even basketball) players would actually be able to defend themselves.
