Third line Bolland 5.5 mil
Third line Hansen 2.5 at last years rate
Second line Kassian more - VANTEL
Debatable |

Hitting the net one out of 10 on breakaways? I know he brings a lot more than dirt. If he would be willing to go to Winnipeg. Tanev, Hansen and a 2nd in 2015 for E Kane. Tanev gets paid, Hansen is closer to family, and a second rounder is pretty good for a guy who wants to come to Vancouver. Jets get 2 instant roster players that improve their team and a prospect. Its fair..ish. - thundachunk
You'd have to switch Hansen with Shinkaruk I would think. I wonder what kind of value they'd place on Lack... They don't have much in goal. |

Shink is in. Kid will play stupid hard. Bordering on insanity. - thundachunk
Benning hasn't exactly shown trust in undersized skill guys although it is early in his regime. I hope Shinkaruk can become an impact player but I doubt how much of a chance he will get. |

I don't doubt his work ethic, but I just find it hard to believe he can jump into the NHL after a year of no hockey - bezz44
Hes a natural goal scorer its what we need. You guys are all on youth movement so give him the f@cking ball and let him run with it. |

RFA vs UFA.. all but stoner have proven more than Kassian and are all a fair bit older
Not comparables.... look what Subban got with his bridge RFA contract - kneughter
I get that, but if its 3.5 the term will be long. I think I prefer that since we have so much cap space the next couple years. If he has a breakout year and we sign him to 2 at 2.25, his next contract is gonna franking hurt |

This...
Needless to say it's a huge jump from the CHL to the NHL, not even taking the injury into consideration.
I'd count it as an unexpected benefit if he is able to make it. I'm excited about Vey. |

Just because Gillis is an idiot and Tallon has to over-pay players to play there doesn't mean Benning should follow. |

Its really interesting how some of these decision will be made, Benning either will have to rely on the mgt who was in place under Gillis or make decisions without knowing much about the players. By making the choice to sign Miller, how much research did he do on Lack? by not even qualifying Schroeder or Dalphe did he watch tape or just look at stats? I'm not ready to make a final judgement on Benning yet as the opening roster has not been set.
For what its worth I think Kassian will get a 2 year deal around 2 mil, and Tanev will be the one locked up on a longer term deal but who knows. |

Agree the kid is a gem. Saw him score in the pre season last year, great hands. Hope his height isn't an issue. - JMD007
he is 5'11, it is not like he is 5'8 |

If they don't win he won't be long for Florida. Picking continual top three picks is easy, building a team around them is the tricky part. |

I want to get this straight right now. I am not comparing them in any way other than height not skill not anything other than height but the best player in the league is 5'11". |

exactly, in what world is 5'11 going to be an issue for hockey? Not sure why people keep bringing up height with regards to shink |

He's thick, Shinkaruk needs a bit more bulk and legs strength but he's a gamer. |

I think that's a bit of a harsh assessment. Although Hansen isn't exactly the next coming of Gretzky, he is very versatile, great on the forecheck and penalty kill, as well as a low maintenance player. $2.5 per year now seems like quite the bargain for a quality energy guy but one that also has some offensive skills.
As far as your proposal, I just don't see Winnipeg trading Kane for what you've outlined. If/when Kane is traded, it is going to be massive overpayment on the side of whoever picks him up |

It all depends on what you are looking for in a player, Benning seemed to think that size was more important than skill ( Virtanen over Nylander/Ehlers) so he could have the some opinion giving a guy like Gaunce a chance over Shink because of his height/Weight. |

I think he favours a style of play, the way Shink plays IMO. A guy can be a big wet noodle and wouldnt really fit JBs mold. Again, IMO. Look at the way virtanen plays. He drafted Mccann in the 1st. Is he a big bodied bruiser? |

Hansen is an excellent 3rd liner who for whatever reason has been forced into a 2nd line role at times for the Canucks. I think Higgins is great but if we are talking about moving a guy at 2.5 per year, he makes more sense as he most likely has more value.
Also agree that the quoted poster's deal for Kane would not be enough. |

Man strength needs nurturing you don't get better teachers than the Sedins when it comes to endurance and work ethic. If he sticks with them he will be just fine. Kassian spent part of a summer with the Sedins and I swear they brought out his potential and it keeps growing. Leadership comes in many forms. |
