Man strength needs nurturing you don't get better teachers than the Sedins when it comes to endurance and work ethic. If he sticks with them he will be just fine. Kassian spent part of a summer with the Sedins and I swear they brought out his potential and it keeps growing. Leadership comes in many forms. - thundachunk
Yet another factor in how important the Sedins are to this club |

I think he favours a style of play, the way Shink plays IMO. A guy can be a big wet noodle and wouldnt really fit JBs mold. Again, IMO. Look at the way virtanen plays. He drafted Mccann in the 1st. Is he a big bodied bruiser? - anavar
I do agree Mccann while not a bruiser or with much size (although bigger than Shink was/is) was drafted by Benning. The only point I would bring up is that in many peoples minds he fell to 24 and would not of been crazy to see him go 10 spots earlier.
I actually like the Mccann pick more than the Virtanen pick at this point, although I will try very hard to be positive. Horvat Mccann Cassells could be an 1B 2B C situation in our future. Not a lot of size but great intelligence and ability down the middle. |

Hansen is an excellent 3rd liner who for whatever reason has been forced into a 2nd line role at times for the Canucks. I think Higgins is great but if we are talking about moving a guy at 2.5 per year, he makes more sense as he most likely has more value.
Also agree that the quoted poster's deal for Kane would not be enough. - belcherbd
Hansen is worth more than Higgins. Sure its not enough but Kane has an attitude problem and wants to go to Vancouver. |

7.66 M under the floor, eshhh.
Bailey for Phaneuf and Clarkson ought to do it - Whiskey-Tango
not likely, phaneuf is not getting moved for a salary dump.
especially considering we just got a veteran d-man to play with
Him.

Let's just see where he's at in training camp. There is no point rushing him if he isn't ready. Maybe he looked pretty ready last year but we have no recent sample to analyze. Our most recent analysis is a year old. It seems silly to pencil him in. Lots on here don't even have Jensen as a lock to make the team and he had some success in the big league last year. |

I'm sort of in the same camp. I think we got better value with our 24th pick than we did at 6, despite Virtanen being the better prospect. Not that I'm disappointed with Virtanen, just that a top 5 faller or even Ehlers would have been a home run IMO |

You'd have to pay a serious price if you want to get Kane. |

I was never on the Vantel train for that reason and many other reasons. They could fetch us a ton but these are good people representing your city and franchise. Work ethic and "team" attitude wins me over every time. To bad Willie Mitchell isn't here he is a team guy who isn't lazy. Money talks though money talks. |

meh ehlers or virtanen. I am okay with him at #6. Dude is a freak physically, only 2months older than Jack Eichel and is already 210 lbs. If he grows an inch and is gaming at 225 or so, look out. Will be deadly flying down that wing. Local to boot. |

Don't get me wrong I like Virtanen. It is really nice to get a local boy out of the draft, and he sounded really pumped to be here |

Don't get me wrong I value Hansen more than Higgins but I'm not sure that the rest of the league. Higgins scored 17, 10 and 18 goals the last 3 season to Hansens 11, 10 and 16. Higgins also has some pretty good possession numbers.
Anyways both are players I like but I would hold on to Hansen before Higgins because of what I think is perceived value around the league.
As for Kane he might have attitude problems and might want to go to Vancouver ( although both of those could be questioned) he doesn't get to decide where he gets traded as he has no NTCs or NMCs ( as far as I'm aware). |
