Shinkaruk no, but I hope I'm wrong, I just think he needs some playing time in the AHL to work his way onto the team. That said, I think Bonino can score 15-20, and Kassian can score 20, not to mention I think given a full season Jensen can score 15. - LeftCoaster
I don't see a reason why Jensen can't score 20 with PP time and top 6 minutes. The guy is a goal scorer. They may come in bunches, but they'll come. |

They're almost certainly not moving Reilly Smith, a young player who broke out last year. - AlexF
I don't know where people think they can pry Reilly Smith out of Boston. He's not going anywhere.
And give up on Kane. He is a cancer in Winnipeg. Canucks already got rid of one. Not sure why they want another. |

Agreed. Get him his reps. He won't blow it up right away, but he will get it. |

They have no cap room & a RFA above him on the priority list (Krug)... The Bruins are in a position to be taken advantage of and Benning has the connections to be the beneficiary. People are just spitballing the possibilities. |

What did we have to give up for him that was comparable to what Dallas gave up? - LeftCoaster
Kesler +. I have no doubt we could have matched that deal. I was actually shocked BOS accepted what they did but they clearly knew what they were getting in Reily Smith. |

I get that, but they are going to find a way to keep him. Mgt are very high on him. |

So would a top 6 of :
Sedin Sedin Burrows
Jensen Bonino Kassian
get us into the playoffs? I think it could. Really want to see if Burrows can still be Burrows and chip in some timely goals.
We have needed more goal scoring, it would be nice if we could get that scoring from Jensen and Kassian if they get the opportunity. |

I think the can dump Ericsson, Boychuck, Kelly or Marchand before they have to go to Smith.
I'm still calling Ericsson to the Canucks |

As of today that is the top 6. Every player is a question mark. Can the twins and Burrows rebound? Can Boninio handle 2nd line center? Can Kassian and Jensen show enough consistency for top 6 rolls?

To be honest I'd be much happier if one of the kids found a way to know Burrows out of the top 6. |

I'm wondering who's gonna light it up in the D core. The only real offensive threat we have now is Edler. |

I'd be fine with that. I think Eriksson would be effective with the twins on the PP and possibly on their line. I think he's versatile enough to also be of value on Bonino's line.
The concussions are always a concern but at 4.25m for 2 seasons I'd be willing to take the risk if the return isn't too demanding. |

Tanev should rack up a TON of assists in the north/south game. |

I like what Sutter was saying in the playoffs, when asked about his second line, he said which one is that?
I think with Willie we're going to see less top 6 bottom 6 and more 4 lines that play with speed and aggression. A more balanced attack.
Honestly, players were confused of the defensive system in march. Whatever torts was doing he wasn't making himself clear. We cannot be any worse than last year as far as systems go. We had a brutal forecheck (consistent oddman rushes the other way), bad breakouts and transition, as well as horrid defensive coverage. |

Lets not forget that Bonino was collecting many of his points with Getz and Perry. Do you see that kind of power around him now?
While people are focusing on a 2nd line made up of young players as the question/answer of getting into the playoffs...like you I sit here and wonder what we are going to get out of Burrows on the 1st line?
This is a big reason we need a legit top 6 scorer. We are at risk of having a underwhelming 1st line as well. I know Chompsey will get in my face about being Debby Downer for looking at the current make up of our top 6... but I cant help having doubts. Putting the Canuck covered glasses aside for a honest look is a gift of mine... not ashamed.

It took Miller like 15 games to design his stupid helmet and by game 25 he was unemployed. |

There are huge questions in our forward ranks.
Is Daniel still a goal scorer?
Can the Sedins dominate?
Was Burr's horrendous year just injuries and torts? Can he score 25-30 again?
Are any of our kids able to step into a top 6 role?
Was Bonino's year last year repeatable?
Was our putrid offense a result of torts or was it a continued decline of past greatness?
One could make a compelling argument that our team has one top six forward - Henrik.
Another could argue Henrik, Daniel, Kass, Bonino, Jensen, Burr are. The answer is probably somewhere in the middle. |

Fair enough - that would have made sense, but we're talking about Mike Gillis here...he never would have done that. |

One goalie commentator (Kevin Woodley) suggested Miller was not going to do well in St Lious. Very limited practice time was not going to be good for the adjustments he needs to make.
Some believe Miller needs to clean up his techinical game to return to being dominant. If he and Rollie work well together Miller should be quite good. |

Its hard to blame most of it on Tortoisrella when we had been watching the decline since our big playoff run. Well, at least the bipolars saw it...

Garbage and something nice to help carry out the garbage. Marchand & Smith for Jensen & 2015 2nd (2nd rounder is what they would get in compensation if Smith gets a offer sheet) Can't send back much in the way of salary. |

Meh, I would like to see him get a slight raise up to $800,000 - $900,000, as we know injuries will happen, and no guarantee Horvat, Shink or even Jensen will be on that second line.
Thought bringing him back would be a no brainer, but his size and toughness must be an issue for Benning. |

This! I speculated long before the Botch tweets that Benning is unlikely to have interest in problem childs though(Downie/Kane/Marchand). |
