Garbage and something nice to help carry out the garbage. Marchand & Smith for Jensen & 2015 2nd (2nd rounder is what they would get in compensation if Smith gets a offer sheet) Can't send back much in the way of salary.

How the prostate exam go?
Did it remind you of last season or the Miller signing?

One goalie commentator (Kevin Woodley) suggested Miller was not going to do well in St Lious. Very limited practice time was not going to be good for the adjustments he needs to make.
Some believe Miller needs to clean up his techinical game to return to being dominant. If he and Rollie work well together Miller should be quite good.

- Salient

It is funny that our top6 has all these question marks and our new elite (heard it said on tsn) goalie has his own question marks... Can Miller get it together and get back to top form, will the amount of travel hamper him playing in the west after his whole career to this point was in Buffalo?

Will it take time to adjust to WD and his system or will it be easily adopted or even embraced? Will/Can the Sedins play in this sort of system? Thinking it can't be that different from what they saw early in their careers.

Fair enough - that would have made sense, but we're talking about Mike Gillis here...he never would have done that.

I know and agree. Was just musing on what might have been.

I'd be fine with that. I think Eriksson would be effective with the twins on the PP and possibly on their line. I think he's versatile enough to also be of value on Bonino's line.

The concussions are always a concern but at 4.25m for 2 seasons I'd be willing to take the risk if the return isn't too demanding.

- AlexF

My (and many others) concern is that Eriksson could turn out to be Booth 2.0.

From what I understand he needs a ton of shots to keep himself in the game. He plays better on a crappy team. he didn't get enough shots in St.L and it screwed up his game.

But I'm still not sold on Miller, never have been, he's a head case just like Luo.

That is a very valid concern.

I remember when we let Willie Mitchell walk, I thought he was done in the league with his concussion issues and then he goes to the Kings and is part of two cup wins. Good for Willie.

At least Eriksson only has 2 years left on his contract.

Looks like O' Jokinen signed with Nashville.

Now that you mention it he did look like Messier.

The good thing is I was told I have an impressive cardiovascular system for a 52 yr old, blood pressure 129/72 and heart rate of 64.

No idea why that correlation is being made. Different players, different ceilings, different injury concerns, different IQs.

From what I've read it sounds like Eriksson is good to go. At least you can be sure he won't injury himself in the offseason doing stupid sh1t or by going way too hard on day 1 of camp.

To my way of thinking last year was an anomaly, yes older players like the Sedins are naturally declining, but still, not to the degree we saw last year.

Two seasons ago the Nucks were middle of the row in terms of GF, we need players like Kassian to step up with 20, Jensen to provide 14, Horvat (if he makes the club) 12, Burrows to get back to 20, Daniel to get 20, Bonino to get 20....and we'll be ok providing our defense has a much better year and our goaltending is solid.

Western Conference teams number of 20+ goal player;

Anaheim 4
LA 2
Colorado 5
Minny 3
Dallas 2
Chicago 5
San Jose 4
St Louis 5

So what do we figure it would cost to pry Ryan O'Reilly out of COL?

Marchand is an idiot douchebag on a winning team... imagine what he'd be like on a losing team....

No thanks.

a lot? don't think they want to move him after losing Stastny.

Are we going to be able to land anyone that can score 20 goals on a 1 or 2 year contract?

Is it time to target a project player?

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun · 21h
Peter Mueller still on market. He's healthy and ready to return to NHL...

I had previously hoped the Canucks would take a chance on PM when he went to the Avs. He might be done, I don't know. Maybe he doesn't fit the Benning model?

How about Morrow? Might be able to step up to 2nd line but has slowed a bit and may be more suitable in bottom 6?

Slim pickins with ufa's...

CHI is currently way over the cap. I wouldn't mind seeing Sharp getting picked up as a salary dump.

Edit: Peter Mueller had a decent season in the KHL. Might be a decent signing at $1m for 1 year.

Hansen, Higgins and Burrows. They can't start the season with those three guys.

Higgins needs a change of scenery, Burrows will have a bounce back year and Hansen will be fine if he plays in his 3rd/4th line comfort zone.

I like Sharp. He would be a good fit here.
