Personally when the Devils signed Clowe last year I said where is that god damned mother (frank)er Obama? I'm going to kick him in the teeth for what he did to my organization!

Well said.

Frankly, I am so @#$#@% pissed off, I'm ready to change allegiances. This organization provided a lot of hope and promise the way they have handled things prior to this. Some faith in the organization was restored and I was thinking that this new regime would not make the same mistakes as the old one.

Well, holy f*ckcockles, Batman, looka here, we're signing an over the hill goalie with a questionable (or at least self-professed 'moody' attitude) whose skills have eroded, and we're signing him for $6 million for 3 years (oh AND NTC!!! just to rub it in! oh oh oh...AND apparently there wasn't much negotiation on the Canucks part just keeps getting better!)

Im not only extremely pissed off but I'm actually disappointed that Linden was involved with this debacle. Lastly, all the progress this organization has made means nothing. Even before the puck has dropped, I have lost faith in this new regime

Edit: did I mention I'm really pissed off?

Step away from the ledge. One signing isn't a make or break deal for me. Christ we had the room and went after the best free agent goalie on the market. I am still on the fence about this one but we have seen a ton worse today. Its not like we signed Heatly.

I know, just having some fun. Unless he really did take issue with my opinion on the Miller signing.

Might be an interesting project to pick up, like Franson was....

If he's tough to coach then it's not worth it IMO. If he's willing to learn which he might be if his phone hasn't rung a week into free agency then he's worth a low salary 1 year deal.

They had terrible possession numbers but they're so young, goaltending saved them.

ROR Duchene Iggy
Landeskog MacKinnon Tanguay

Pretty sweet top six!!!

- LeftCoaster

I was also really impressed with Tyson Barrie (the guy is a buzz saw/rover type of defenseman and has some sweet skills - it took long enough but the Avs remained patient and now have a future power play quarterback for years - add in the guys you noted and it's going to lethal)

He can select 5 teams to be traded to, so with his age and salary I'm taking that as a full NTC.
- AlexF

So Gillis isn't the only one who played the NTC game. I didn't like Gillis, but all the NTC blame he's received has always been overblown as it seems to be done by everyone.

A city's bankruptcy has nothing to do with a player's salary and Detroit has looked that way for decades. There's a shine that's starting to wear off on that organization. Not sure why.
- AlexF

Oh I realize that but Detriot is not a desirable place to live. Detriot is a great organization. City not so much.

I think so. Seriously guys, sorry for stirring up poop. I was just following the Ryan Miller American hero train. For what it's worth I think it was a good signing at a good cap hit.
- smellmyfinger

Dude! It was a funny joke, no reason to apologize. Some things go right over some peoples heads, it's not your fault that we have a 14 yr old posting here.

Stay tuned

(I just feel there were a lot of other options available at a fraction of the cost - and then to hear a 3 year $6 million dollar deal - which never even had any sort of significant negotiations! and of course the last straw was the NTC. I thought we learned our @#$ lesson. So much for change - to me this is the same ole same ole

Isnt Legwand a center.....I think we are ok for center now. I would only slot Legwand on the 4th and I like Richards better.

Did Setaguchi go today? Might be good for 15 goals?

I think we need to form an Anti-Miller support group, Bezz, or just give up entirely and enter ourselves into a convalescent home forthwith

I'm moving to Siberia to become a KHL fan and avoid these stupid heat waves

Pretty much sums up the problem of signing miller from the botch article:

Benning said he believes in a succession plan.

“If Ryan is our guy who is going to play the majority of the games, I think Eddie can look to him as a mentor,” Benning said. “I think he can continue to grow as a goalie.

“Goaltending is a hard position. Goalies develop later. I don’t think you know what you have with a goalie until they are 26 or 27.”

Lack is 26, and set to become an unrestricted free agent in two years.

So, there are two ways this can go. One, Miller excels, and the Canucks continue to ride him into his sunset years as their No. 1 goalie.

Or two, Lack takes over the starting role before is contract is up.

Both roads lead to the exact same location — a goalie trade.

Can’t wait.

True, but is it too much to ask to have someone who can drive the net WITH the puck?

I hear you and, to be honest, I wouldn't want to live there either but the players and their families are largely shielded from the desolation we're speaking of and all live in posh areas (which every city of that size has).

Lack is gone this summer in some sort of package deal, which is completely ok with me if it brings an <25 forward.

He could drive the net with the puck, he just couldn't put it in.
