With all the activity yesterday, I'm trying to see who is left that needed a 2nd Center. Is Nashville still in the mix for his services as was rumored? |

say NO to Ott.
I would prefer the Flyers continue to move away from Goons and slow players. I would rather let a young kid play then to see Ott on this team.
Grabovski is an interesting name, I Would like to see the Flyers kick the tires on him.

If they move VL, I'm ok with Ott, but only if the deal is for 2 years or less and a cap hit of no more than 2.5M |

I agree. Also think Flyers fans' opinions on Ott would change if he was in orange and black (although he's coming off a poor season). |

What role do you see him to Playing if Hexy goes in that direction?

Ott could be a nice mentor for a guy like Laughton as well |

Bill-Any idea who this mystery player is that Hexy is looking to sign? What are your thoughts on Kulemin? He looks very intriguing to go after.
Thanks for your commentary and insight! - ClutchFlyer
Ott is the guy who has been rumored for weeks -- and went unsigned on day one of free agency as well -- but I don't know for sure. |

I would rather have had Brian Boyle at what Tampa signed him for then Ott.

My guess is B Schenn gets a shot at 1st line LW, Couturier becomes 2nd line C; so Ott starts out as 3rd line C with Laughton on the 4th. If Laughton earns more playing time, you could flip him with Ott. |

Ott will be a guy who moves all around the lineup and sees time on all four lines at different junctures of the season. It helps that he can play any forward position. Although he's never been a scorer per se, he can fill a role with the right linemates if pressed into top-six service.

That isnt a bad idea. I am sure Bill is rite, that Ott would grow on me if I saw him play game in game out.
I don't know, I am just tired of signing older slower guys.

Thank you, sir!
I trust your opinion. If you say he would be a good signing I trust it.
I just hope its no more then a 2 year deal.

I believe Boyle was one of the forwards they were interested in, actually. I know they've liked him for quite a few years, despite his lack of scoring touch.

In a way I am ok with them not spending money yesterday. Non of the top UFAs really did much for me. If Hextall has a plan to get younger and faster and let kids develop then I am ok. There are a couple mid tier guys i would still look at. Guys i like:
Forwards:
Kulemin
Setagutchi
Ott
Heatley
Galiardi
Jeffrey
Defensemn:
Del Zotto
McBain
Diaz
Falk
Benoit
All of this is depending on dollars and term |

Bill,
I saw something last night and now I can't remember where that Winnipeg likes Coburn. I like Coburn and think he does a lot and brings size and skating. But I might be ok with moving him if we are getting back someone like Bogosian. My thinking is that if Hextall wants the kids to develop then why not bring in a 24 year old dman who can possibly turn into that number one we have been looking for. I understand that potential gets coaches and gms fired but if he can get to that stage then you have prospects like Ghostisbiere and Hagg and Morin and Sanheim your starting to have a really solid core on d. Also his deal is very solid at a good cap hit. |

Agreed 100percent that it is all about the Benjamin's with bolded players being tops on list. Setoguchi could play LW with G and potential have a bounce back, last year he showed promise and certainly has the speed. |

Boyle is one of those guys who looks really irritating to play against, also willing to risk life and limb to block shots. One game last playoffs (might have been the Flyers) he basically knelt in front of the shooter, took a shot off the shoulder, could've taken it in the face.. no matter, he stuck himself between the puck and the net anyway.
I'm not sure whether to admire that act or be horrified by it, but you have to admit, he's not playing afraid. |
