if it prevents you from getting something you need, then very yes - BulliesPhan87
What if that need was a need that developed in the future, and wasn't a need at the time of the purchase. Due to issues beyond your control? |

I'm not sure I see the difference? Making a bad choice that involves money should be considered "mismanaging" your money. The two should be mutually exclusive. When you have to "manage" your money in a cap world, the margin for error is slim. Therefore, making a bad choice with money would be considered mismanaging your money. - steelydan
I think you're arguing semantics. But the difference I would compare it to is:
A bad decision would be having $500 and spending all $500 on the grill, and not having enough to buy the propane tank, spatula, and food to put on it.
A mismanaged situation would be having $500 and spending $450 of it on drugs and alcohol, leaving you with only $50 to buy a grill and the things that go with it. You still have a grill, but it turns out to be sucky...
I'd personally put the Flyers in more of the "bad" situation right now. But again, that's just me... mostly because they (Holmgren) spent without regard to the future. It wasn't a mismanagement, as some of the contracts were warranted, and some of the players were good deals... but it wasn't smart because he wasn't thinking of the future implications. Mismanagement would have been something like tying up $30 million a season in 3 players, and not having enough to field a competitive team... |

Correctly calculating risk, balancing needs vs wants, optimizing asset value, and responsible budgeting seem to the rest of us to be integral parts of sound cap management, but good luck trying to convince him of that. - Tomahawk
If you can't refute the point, attack the poster! I'm on sound ground here. And I know the difference between player management mistakes, with all the unknowns that come with it as an inexact science. And with all the issues that are beyond a team's control. And cap management mistakes. |

Its a compliment to have your ass grabbed repeatedly... Obviously its a nice ass, or the grabbing would have stopped after the 4th time. |

I think the big issue is that a lot of fans don't agree or don't like what the Flyers cap philosophy has been to this point. That doesn't make it mismanaged .And I think that things like drafting, player development, and trades, get lumped all into one category, and called cap mismanagement. But to me they are all individual subsets and different areas. |
