Thinking of Downie makes me think of Dean McAmmond. Has anyone ever had a worse 2 consecutive games (well, appearances) than him?

In Game 3 of the 2007 SCF, he was elbowed in the head by Pronger and knocked out. He missed Games 4 and 5. The next game he played, Downie delivered that superman flying shoulder check and knocked him out cold and he missed 10 games. That's rough luck.

Oh boy, that guy is going to be nuts during Pens/Flyers games. As if the Pens already had discipline problems vs. the Flyers...

well...i read page 1, and saw immediate arguing about cap mismanagement. i skipped directly to page 15 to see, wait for it......that's right, the same argument about cap mismanagement, or lack thereof, or what defines said term.

thank goodness for giroux's drunken stupor, cop ass-grabbing behavior, as i'm sure the argument above will still be ongoing at page 30, and likely beyond. i believe there's more to this story, just as i do about his "golf injury" last summer that ultimately led to his olympic team omission as well has the horrible start to his nhl season.

My wife will confirm, I am an ass man myself.

Flyers traded Upshall+2nd for Carcillo to allow them cap space to bring up Giroux. I'd say that is a pretty clear scenario. Unless you're willing to argue that it was actually a fair trade? I feel confident in saying that how you answer this will make or break my opinion of you.

First of all, I don't care what your opinion is of me. And that really shouldn't even come into play here. So I'll just disregard that.

Have to look at the entire situation there. Having Briere injured, was also part of that equation. Because they also had to bring him off of LTIR. The Flyers had a choice there. They could've left Giroux in the minors, and kept Upshall. The whole idea of the cap is to limit player spending. A team doesn't have an unlimited amount of money to spend on players. The end result of those moves was that the team was better with Briere of off LTIR, and Giroux on the team, with Carcillo. Then they were before. Isn't that the objective?
