Outside of Botchford, I don't think anyone does. Definitely not the radio hosts, I'd say a few of the posters here know more than them for sure. - Nucker101

You're on #TankNation or do you just hate Vrbata's guts? - Nucker101
I don't hate his guts, but he's 33, coming off a Mason Raymondesque season, has been paid the same $3m for the past six seasons (two separate contracts) and I just don't see him as a serious upgrade on anyone that is already here. This reeks of season ticket holder brown nosing. It is one more roster spot that is now unavailable for a younger player to earn. |

Some people overrated most of the media and radio hosts in this city. I honestly believe they know little more than most of the regular posters here. Most of them don't watch many more non-Canuck games than we judging from what I've heard on the 1040 when I make the mistake of listening.
And all of us watch pretty much every Canuck game so unless they have some sort of pro scouting background, I fail to see what makes their opinions more valuable than ours. - Nucker101

Why drop big bucks on Miller and Vrbata if the aim is to tank? - Delta-Bravo
Fo sho. I actually don't mind the Vrbata signing for the term alone. In comparison to the Miller deal we're making improvement. You gotta think that the injuries will come so the Jensens and co will get their shot.
That said, I'll put money down that Benning has at least one if not more trades in him this summer. |

That is a huge insult to Vrbata. I give him more credit than that. Plus, he doesn't fall down every time he builds up speed. |

Canucks are 3-5 years away from their new young core being ready. Miller and Vrbata will make it more watchable, and we won't have to ruin young careers like they are in Edmonton. Benning is smart, he's done well IMO. I'd do every move he has, so he's obvious doing the right thing. |

Difference in actual salaries would be about 2.2 Mil . After we trade Higgins for 5 th we are fine - VANTEL
Fair enough - truth be told unless the players have a bounce-back year and a lot of young guys step up, most on here will get their wish with a good pick next year. |

I think their "insider" stance comes from having the Ferraros, Macleans, BobMacs of the world giving their insight into the dealings of the day (for 4 hours every day) and then amalgamating that with their own take and voila, we have perspective. |

Starting with the top line. if they have a very good year then there is no scoring issue.
I think Hansen Bonino will combine for about 40 goals |

A bit disappointed that we haven't gone after some depth forwards since we are making moves for Miller or Vrbata. But it does give room for young guns and tanking |

Botch may know inside info, but he knows as much as the rest of us about the actual x's & o's of the game. Ray Ferraro know the game, just as an example. |

Well, you sure told me.
I don't mind 2 years, but the $ seems desperate to me. If neither of the current goalies are Benning disciples I'm good with that too, just move them now and sign a career backup so I don't have to listen to the freak out when lack plays better than Miller. I'd rather have Reimer as a backup at this point.
And just so you know, I'm not even considering any of the '13 picks, I'm talking about the guys they just acquired that are supposed to be NHL ready, plus maybe Jensen and Corrado. |

He will be in the lineup playing with the twins.
Sedin Sedin Jensen
Shink Bonino Vrbada
Burrows Vey Kassian
Higgins Richardson Dorsett |

That's pretty generic? What bad contracts are you talking about? Give me something! Like take on Lupuls' contract and get Gardiner in return? Which contract is out there for us to take on, I want names. - LeftCoaster
Marchand, Eriksson, Boychuck, Chimera, Green, Sharp.
Would you rather have Miller as FA or Sharp plus prospect in a salary dump? (same money) |

With the more uptempo style Desjardins seems to be bringing I'll put money down several players will have a bounce0back year. Kassian is the most obvious candidate to step up and Jensen, if used correctly, may provide some decent secondary scoring.
Looking at this team right now, the main question I have is have we done enough to secure 9th place. I see us presently in that limbo area. |

Kesler had 2 goals last year against California teams - VANTEL
That's obviously some decent numbers from Vrbata so I decided to look at some numbers:
Radim Vrbata against CHI/STL/ANA/LA/BOS the last 2 regular seasons
34 Games
8 Goals
15 Assists
23 Points
Full Season Pace:
82 Games
19 Goals
36 Assists
55 Points
The Coyotes scored 341 goals during the last 2 seasons.
Ryan Kesler against those same teams during the last 2 regular seasons
26 Games
6 Goals
3 Assists
9 Points
Full Season Pace:
82 Games
19 Goals
9.5 Assists(came out at 9.46 so I didn't want to go either way)
28.5 Points
The Canucks scored 323 goals during the last 2 seasons.
What do you guys think? |
