AND the city? Talk about dramatic...

If you're embarrassed by someone else's actions you need to thicken that skin a little. I don't condone hair pulling & scratching but I also don't give a (frank). At least Burrows will do anything to compete which is more than I can say about 99% of the pansies who have worn a Canucks sweater during my lifetime.

- DrChristianTroy

I like his compete level, but I just hate that extra curricular crap. And sure maybe an exaggeration but it is painful to watch. Probably a similar feeling to those who can't stand Daniel getting ragdolled or the team refusing to stand up to bullies

His compete level is what's gotten him to this point. This is the same guy who started out in the ECHL, played his way into the peg, and earned a pro contract with the Canucks. He's been facing adversity his entire career, and has rose above it. This guy will bounce back next season simply cause it's in his nature.
- Gullzy

His story is a really cool one. Came out of nowhere and scored a hat trick in his first game. Hollywood worthy

Haha (frank)ing ha.

A great 3rd liner without the Sedins. Not even a 1st liner with the Sedins recently. We'll see how he does.

...and the LA Kings have none!!!
2 cups in three years = NTC!!

- Marwood

Good players = Stanley Cup

And they didn't have to "tank" to do it either. Neither did Boston!!

Grabbing Drew Doughty at 2nd overall certainly helped. I know they didn't "tank" but the Kings were not very good for the majority of the early 2000's.

Yes absolutely, point being they didn't go the route of Edmonton or Pittsburgh, they've won with only, I believe, one top five draft pick, that being Doughty.

we were not good for the majority of the 80s and early 90's and then early 2000's and now 2011 onwards.... I forgot what I was saying

Look at Boston when they won in 2011, they had one player as a result of a poor season that was due to drafting in a top five position.

Kessel was drafted 5th overall which turned into Seguin and they traded for Horton. Other than that they just drafted well in the 2nd round and made some great trades & UFA signings...it can be done.

The Kings were pretty aweful for a long stretch before they started winning championships... Maybe not a 'tank' but missing the playoffs all those years certainly helped.

Compare their teams players, that were a result of them finishing poorly, and 1st round draft position to say ours, the major difference is our core is much older. Two top five picks - see below...

Drew Doughty 2nd overall
Kopitar 11th overall
Dustin Brown 13th overall

Jonathan Quick 3rd round pick

B. Schenn 5th overall and Simmons 2nd round pick = Mike Richards

Gotta think that if things don't go well with Tanev; him, Higgins, and Lack could be dangled as a package to land one large piece... maybe a solid top 6 forward.

Since you followed Kopitar so closely I'm surprised you had him going before we picked that year.

ya ya I (frank)ed it up - sorry

Edit: I was looking at our top ten picks, Bo Horvat specifically, and I fugged it up.

we are already better than last year.

We have a second line center who knows how to pass the puck. We have a right handed winger for the twins on the pp. We have 2 good goalies. and last but not least 4 real prospects now at forward things are looking up.

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Shinkaruk Bonino Vrbata
Burrows Vey Hansen
Richardson Matthias Dorsett

- DrChristianTroy

That was pretty much my line up yesterday. I have a feeling a couple players might be traded for picks or hit the waiver wire come close to the end of training camp if they can't show they can compete. Its either going to be Jensen or Shink in the lineup.

Don't get me wrong, I like that on paper, but I'm really not sure that Hunter is able to make the jump to the NHL at this point.
