Or send Corrado down til theres a injury? Or trade a core Dman?
Stanton, Corrado and Sbisa could make some interesting competition come camp time... - boonerbuck
4 lefties with Hamhuis/Edler/Stanton/Sbisa and none of them see comfortable on the right side. Right side is Tanev, Bieksa, Corrado, Y.Weber(?), Sanguinetti(?).
I personally prefer having the dmen on the side they're most comfortable on. I get nervous seeing to lefties out there(no offense Lefty!). |

The 3 division leaders are pretty much locks in the West: LA, Anaheim, San Jose, Chicago, St. Louis, Colorado.
That leaves the 2 wild card spots. Minnesota is likely a lock for one of those. I could see Vancouver and Dallas battling for the final one. I hope I'm wrong and that they end up sucking and getting a good draft pick, but the roster right now isn't bad enough to tank and not good enough to make any sort of playoff run. - hankthetank
Stuck in no-mans land due to poor drafting by Nonuts and Gillis. |

Yeah, so I really hope Benning plans to acquire another 1st in next year's draft somehow during the season or next summer. 3 straight drafts with 2 firsts is a great way to rebuild. - Nucker101
I think the only way we draft our way into a Stanly cup is if we pick at least 2 first rounders every year providing our scouting improves with Benning. 29 other teams get at least 1 pick like us.... pretty slow progress that way... even if we pluck a gem here and there.... others do as well and we are playing catch up as it is.
This is why I think Benning will almost always try and get a pick for pending UFA's who are headed for July 1st.

Yup - it's call asset management...something Mike Gillis learned a little too late in his time here. |

I blame asset loss due to sentimentality as well. So many valuable vets left this team for nothing because we didn't sell when we had the chance. Those all would've been 1st rounders+ coming back. |

history has seriously jaded many of you!!! Just because it's always been that way - it'll always remain that way......is a piss poor outlook.
I'm so glad the world has had people who kick that kind of thinking to the curb!!

Wasnt one of Nonis' first non moves letting Jovo walk for nothing?

Yes absolutely that too. Gillis and Nonuts should have been on that train, my hope is Jim Benning has been in the game long enough to change that trend. He may be a rookie GM but he's paid his dues as an assistant GM and a scout, he understands the value in drafting. |

Which makes him top pairing with Hamhuis. Once Corrado makes the Canadian team, he bumps Weber.

Yeah, I could see that team getting"stale". Same GM, same coach, same core(minus Boyle). Wouldn't surprise me if they don't play up to what they're capable of. |

They have done better bringing in youth. If one of the higher paid guys gets moved they have Hertl and others ready to move in. It will be an easier transition for them. |

PP & improved secondary scoring will help his/their #'s. I'm (perhaps delusionally) expecting a 30g season. - DrChristianTroy
It's no coincidence that Bonino and Vrbata both had quite a few PP points last year. Might see a few less goals from Daniel but a few additional assists. |

Yeah, having a Hertl and Couture is definitely a big plus. But you gotta think that they need a shakeup, not because of a lack of talent, but just for the sake of some change. |

If the season goes south on them I fully expect and demand they trade Higgins, Hansen, Lack, Matthias, Richardson etc etc for picks. Even 2nd round picks, if you throw enough crap against the wall somethings gonna eventually stick.
Boston, in part, won a Stanley Cup with great 2nd & 3rd round picks!!! Krejci, Bergeron, Lucic, Marchand, etc... |
