Well, Pronger's making less that the league minimum the last year or two, so it's totally possible a team trying to reach the cap floor trades for him. - jmatchett383
Can they trade him even though he is injured? |

Yup, Hexy has some magic to make, no doubt. The only true relief is when Pronger's $4.9mm comes off the books...in 3 f'n years. Umberger will be gone that year as well. So just hang on! - wolfhounds
Next two seasons are pretty blocked, but things really open up after that. I think Hexy will wait to see how these younger guys step up before they get inked again. |

I believe so. I know that Edmonton and LA made a trade where a physical was not required and it went through. That was the old CBA though, not sure if there's new rules in the current CBA. |

I don't think so now because he has a role in the organization. |

If we retain Coburn (which I think we should), he'll probably be looking at above AMac money in 2 years. |

Can't. You can't have any role (officially) associated with the team if you are currently signed as a player with a valid contract. Violates the CBA. Otherwise, they'd give Giroux $900K a year to play and $7M a year to be the team's assistant to the assistant of hockey operation's assistant. |

I have seen both of them in the same place at the same time and can accurately identify one of them in a police lineup. |

Well there better be a hell of a return coming, or we better have 1-2 of the young guys become a top-pair player in the next 2 seasons. |

Yup. It comes down to length, cause Coburn will be what, 30/31 when his current contract is up? And when he starts to lose a step, one of his biggest assets is taking a hit. 3 year deal. |

Pronger can't have an offical role in the org. Theyv'e brought him in occaisonally (prolly not paid him) but he would lose his contract if he took an official role.
And yes I thought we could trade an injured player as long as both teams were completely aware of the issue. That said, I don't think we ever will. |

Wait...why did my picture get deleted? It didn't show him off-ice and it wasn't "exploiting" him as I understand the definition. |

I'm gonna use a quote of my own making. The Flyers are only as good as their offseason. This has not been a good offseason. To make matters worse, it's harder to make the playoffs under the new format. I truly believe unless a concrete blueprint was in place from the start, Hextall should have left his perfectly good team alone. Don't put your stamp on it just to do so. At least he had a good draft though. One of the bright spot of the summer so far. |

I disagree. Based on what was available and what they were getting paid, I think it was a fantastic offseason so far by not doing anything.
But if you want to use that measuring stick...how was the LA Kings' offseason last year? |

The only difference right now is Hartnell/Umberger right? Everything else is the same. You think that bumps them out of the playoffs? |
