I'll tell you, reading articles and tweets of Philadelphia media that cover the Flyers is pretty hilarious. 90% honestly don't have the first clue. They write such nonsense. I seriously wonder how they got the job in the first place. |

And there's a big difference between being just a bad writer or looking for hits and just being flat out wrong about everything |

Nice work, Checko!

tie game. 3rd period starts. puck goes to my right dman at the blue line off the draw, he fumbles it, loses it, backs in, screens me, and deflects the oncoming turnover shot over my right shoulder. he didn't look at me, didn't apologize, didn't tap my pads. nothing. like it was my fault. |

Flyers have to have a verbal agreement with ott - Winning
He hopes it is a little more ironclad than the agreement with Simon Gage. |

I wouldn't feel bad that you didn't make it. Lots of people have failed. I never entertained the thought. |

I can see it now....
Is Today The Day??
Vinny deal still possible. Hearing the Flyers could answer the door today...the Predators and Senators are knocking. - Giroux_Is_God

Does holding onto VL increase the possibility of a better return/ lack of salary retained or are we up a creek regardless of how long it takes to move on from vinny? Thoughts? |

I feel like it's just a waiting game right now to see which side cracks first.
Side A: Flyers want cap space, Vinny is a luxury who could be moved.
Side B: Predators/Senators/any other team want another goal scorer/playmaker to improve their offense.
Side B sees the Flyers as NEEDING cap space therefore the Flyers should have to retain salary and/or give up assets to "dump" Vinny.
Side A sees a team that lacks offense and thinks that team should have to take on all of Vinny's salary since it's actually reasonable considering the FA market and give up something (but not much) in addition to it's cap space. They also know they can bank on LTIR and don't NEED to move Vinny, it would just make life easier under the cap and since he doesn't fit well in the system.
Simply a waiting game in my eyes. If I'm Hexy, I refuse to retain salary while giving up assets/taking back nothing. It's one or the other, but not both. |

It probably means less money being eaten. Right now, that seems to be the sticking point. There was always a possibility he wouldn't get moved.
As much as I'd like him gone, they can't do a deal where they trade a 2nd rounder and eat half of his salary/cap hit. May as well wait a year and buy him out if that's the best offer on the table. |

I have to agree I hold Hextall holds to form and doesn't let Nashville or anyone hold a gun to his head and think they can get a one over on us. I believe eventually we will get draft pick/ bottom 6 winger in return for Vinny |

They don't have to move a single player to get under the cap. A couple different options with placing Pronger on LTIR gets it done.

No, he's not for sure. The Flyers can be over the cap in a worst case scenario, because of Pronger's LTIR |

Eat half the salary and give up a second rounder, Ouch! You definitely keep him at that point. |

Hexy has some leverage in negotiations because what is left in free agency is debatable if the player is better then Vinny. Also, these smaller or middle level teams really need playoff revenue to break even or a show a profit at the end of they year. Vinny can help these clubs position themselves better to make the playoffs considering what is already on their roster.
So how long is a GM going to negotiate with Hexy to potentially save that $2 million on Vinny's salary, when not acquiring him could cost the club probably over $10 million in gate revenue from 2 or 3 home playoff games at least.
