As a Senators fan, do you think I am happy with trading away a franchise player from a position of weakness for a player with one season of NHL experience?
I am commenting on the hypocrisy of spatso saying Spezza would earn an enormous return 8 months ago versus what we received this week.
You need to leave for being so thick. - HoweHatrick Seriously,so arguing about what someone hoped for as return months ago is revellent how again??Thats right only to suit your desire to troll spats

Sharp is worth ++++++ more than Smith dude ,anybody with a brain knows this .We just shouldnt be giving the ++++ on a player that we dont need as much as we currently need smith

i think thats the problem. MOST of us get that, but spatso has said, repeatedly, that zach smith is worth sharp straight up.
thats like suggesting we trade bobby ryan for gregory campbell. campbell is younger and makes less.......so it means they're worth the same. thats EXACTLY what he's arguing |

When someone like spatso decides to call other posters stupid/donkey/dumb and himself posts on that level, I should be free to point it out. If he wants to post rediculous thoughts, why should I ignore them? Is there a double standard being applied here?
If you can spew it you should be ready to catch it.
If you do not like it, I have already mentioned you can ignore it. That, or take your own advice and stfu.
Here is an emoticon to help you understand.

See there in lies the problem now Chi filled a need with someone else. Now they just would still like Smith and Greening. The issue is what do we ask for in return that would help us, there is not much in a return they would be willing to part with that fits our needs. - Sensfanlifer
I really do think that Chicago likes Smith because of his size and his physical game. They want a physical player to counter the big centers in the West, especially LA. They talked about Smith last year.
Sharp is going to be moved. They are capped out right now and need to give Toews and Kane new contracts for next year.
The strange part of the entire discussion is that I am not all that positive about Sharp. My very first comments were really about why would Chicago want to do that deal and does it really work all that well for Ottawa. Still not sure why some of the guys got so angry. I don't see it happening. |

It is funny that Lazar was the only reason Sharp/Leddy were pair up to be in that rumor for Greening/Smith( that was also before they signed Richards) otherwise like I posted before I do not see Chi ever parting with Sharp for that low of a return. When they have numerous other options of players to dump cap with.
Side note: I bet Travis loves his blog hits going through the roof the last few days due to all the debates lol.
Lastly Murray seeking to offer huge dollars for RFA Ryan Johansen

I know they have 20m in cap to counter anything any team can offer sadly. It is unfortunate to since talks have fallen off with him and CBJ

No. No. No.
You know I have no opinion on the deal itself. I have not said that they should do it or not. The only thing I have said is that Lazar would not be part of the deal.
Chicago knows that Lazar is not an option.
All I have said is the Chicago offer once you take out Leddy and Greening and a prospect not named Lazar is Smith for Sharp. Now if you want to add back in Leddy, Greening and a prospect not named Lazar....fine. That is what I said before, that is what I believe the basic deal is. It is all about Smith and Sharp. The rest is merely window dressing. |

Your opinion is that the Hawks would do a straight trade - Sharp for Smith. Correct? |

Does not strike me as Murray's style. He would not do it without having a prior discussion with Jarmo Karkalaiken. |

That is the only reason why Sharp would have been involved was to have Lazar added or else Chi would have just kept with their first reported rumored offer months ago.

exactly. in that deal, the prize for the hawks was lazar, not smith. smith was a nice bottom six piece that they'd like to have, but that's it.
if lazar comes out of the deal, so does sharp.....and you're left with smith and leddy, which is MUCH MORE realistic |

Everyone else has the opinion that they would not. - HoweHatrick
No. I have the opinion the Hawks want Smith. I have the opinion that the Hawks need to clear cap space. JJ the Chicago blogger believes the Hawks were trying deal Sharp in order to clear cap space. I don't think there will be a deal. But once you take out the spectators Greening, Leddy and a prospect not named Lazar you can see the substance of the deal was Sharp for Smith.
Would Chicago really do that deal? It is a rumor. |

I do not see how you factor the deal was based around Smith for Sharp when Lazar was the xfactor. Dumping cap or not dealing Leddy/Sharp for Greening/Smith would be a gross overpayment by Chi who at this time does not NEED to shed cap untill closer to to TDL or after the playoffs.
The only reason they will do so early is to get the contracts signed for Kane/Toews, but they have lesser parts they could find suitors for that would not cost them one of their important pieces. |

Just go back and read jj's stuff. Lazar's name was just a throw in. His entire analysis was about the Stanley Cup playoffs and Chicago really being so weak down the middle. It was all about getting a physical player in the middle.
I don't think it is going to happen. It was a Chicago rumor about the Hawks getting Smith and their problems at center. Go back and read his stuff. |

if they want smith, they'll move someone like leddy for him.....and if they still need to clear cap space, then they move sharp somewhere else for a 1st, roster player, and highend prospect.
jesus, someone on the winnipeg thread offered sharp, leddy, and versteeg for kane....and most thought it was a pretty good deal.....THAT right there should tell you what sharps value is. versteeg adds negative value to that trade, which offsets a lot leddy's value...so the two main pieces are sharp and kane.
i don't deny for one second that smith is a valuable piece to lots of teams....he's valuable in the same way that guys like gregory campbell, brian boyle, or trevor lewis are valuable. that is, they're good bottom six guys, but when talking about trades for elite players, they're add-ons to the trade, not the central piece going the other way. |

come on man....now you're just getting ridiculous.
everyone on that thread, including JJ, said that deal absolutely doesn't happen unless lazar is the central piece.
go into his blog right now and ask HIM what he thinks of your opinion. i GUARANTEE YOU that every single chicago fan in that blog tells you that you're insane |
