Tampa has good young players. I think they hang tough.

Yep they do ,its what they are banking on like us.Their vet support was better for them than ours was.Fillpula was far better an all around force than our vet top 6 center

If we listed all the players starting opening night last October. Side by side, list the players you expect to see to see starting this October. They will be okay.

Biggest change, Zibanejad goes in for Spezza.

More youngsters getting more ice time for sure. Might work out well or there might be some bumps in the road. Do they do what Cowen did last year? Or do they do what Ceci did last year? Probably be a mix of both. Would be nice to add some guys who can fill out the depth chart who have some NHL experience to do a little guiding, but I guess we will see.

With Ottawa's ridiculous budget constraints I can't really see them wanting to sign him to much more than a 2-year/$2M contract, a bridge if you may. Although I am primarily a Leafs fan I do cheer for the Sens as my wife to be is a huge fan.

Until Eugene Melnyk figures out that he's better to sell of a majority stake in his team and retain minority ownership, the Sens are doomed to be a coin toss every year. Sure this team has some very good young assets, as they have done incredibly well in drafting young talent. But this team needs to spend some money to get some proven skilled players and until they are ready to do that, get ready for a bumpy ride.

Why would anyone want to play for a team that has a budget that far below the cap? Furthermore, this is not your Southern U.S. Hockey market. If Eugene Melnyk can't turn a profit from a Canadian hockey franchise, then the guy is just a pure idiot and has no right to call himself an NHL owner.

their D is gonna be real good this year. they added stralman and garrisson to play in their top 4...with hedman, carle, etc.

not the best in the league, but certainly very good.

Hedman is the only guy there, the rest are pretty meh tbh.

other than probably the rangers and bruins, that's probably the best defensive group in the eastern conference. not sure why you think they're m'eh. they have a couple of good young guys in there too.

Fair points. Turning a profit is a tricky word in a Melnyk world. Ottawa has great cash flow coming in. And, Ottawa has a tight budget on player salaries. They will have the 2nd fewest miles of traveling this coming season. You would think profits would be spectacular.

Everyone would like to know, where is the money?

Ours should be alot better as well. I know most here believe cowen to be garbage ,but last season was his second full one at the nhl level ,his second year slump was probably made even tougher to come out of because of his missed training camp. And probable issues from his injury the year past.Methot and EK both rough years and look to be able to bounce back.

I like our makeup on defense tbh ,it could be very good next season

I honestly don't think cowen bounces back. being big only takes you so far.....especially when you have the hockey iq of a stump.

if they trade weircioch, this D will be a (frank)ing train wreck next year.

there is no "big trade" between these two teams that makes any sense. EK is just trolling for hits.

Less is more for him, Cowen,s game is about physical presence ,in the defensive zone.He is a hammer ,his best play with the puck is how many he seperates from opposing forwards.Wiercoch for me is a giraffe on skates ,yes he can play the puck ,be he is slow and soft in reacting in the defensive zone.Iwatched gionta or galleger knock him off the puck, and seen enough of him.MAbergerion version2.0.Ceci took his job at 19

that move makes no sense for ottawa.

and i also think there is less than a zero% chance that marleau waives to go to a rebuilding team.

weircioch was EASILY our 3rd best d-man last year, and you could even make a pretty convincing argument that he was our 2nd best d-man (ahead of methot).

trading him (while keeping people like gryba, boro, phillips, etc) would be a TERRIBLE mistake.

Can't disagree, but WILSON would be out of his mind to move Couture unless it's Karlsson (less than 0% of that happening)

if you have pavelski and thornton down the middle...adding ryan on one of their wings makes a lot of sense.

it's definitely trading future for present, but in terms of value, it's a fair trade.

i don't see it happening, as wilson has been pretty adamant that he wants to retool/rebuild...........but it wouldn't be the craziest deal i'd ever seen.
