Does anyone think Sens games are going to be exciting to watch next year?

I am a full season ticket holder and have season tickets in MTL (just to go to the Sens games) and I am dreading this season. I think there is going to be a lot of boring hockey and we are going to have more than a couple blowout losses.

That seems like a lot of cash to dish out for a 5-6 games, Rice - do you sell them to bidders the other times or something?

if you have pavelski and thornton down the middle...adding ryan on one of their wings makes a lot of sense.

it's definitely trading future for present, but in terms of value, it's a fair trade.

i don't see it happening, as wilson has been pretty adamant that he wants to retool/rebuild...........but it wouldn't be the craziest deal i'd ever seen.

It's an interesting scenario, with Jumbo Joe intent on "squatting" in San Jose.

Wiercoch has MAbergion written all over him,tCowen,s first NHl season was better than anything i have seen from weircoch .He was benched because he cant play defense ,he gets muscled off the puck far too much for a defender.Cowen has had his struggles ill grant that but Cowen is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>than weircoch

These teams are not that much better than we are tbh

Tampa Bay is WAY better than we are. They will contend for the east title this season.

Pittsburgh, Boston, Tampa, NYR are the only teams I would consider playoff locks.

Columbus, Montreal, Philly, Detroit, NYI, Ottawa, and New Jersey will fight for the last 4 spots. Florida might if they get some solid strides of growth out of their young guns.

Toronto, Buffalo, Washington and Carolina I don't forsee having great seasons.

-Buffalo was so bad last year that even if they improve they should still be bad relative to other teams.

-Toronto came crashing down to earth after riding lucky PDO for a year and a half, I don't expect a bounce back because of the three non-impact players they brought in. Would be surprised if their goaltending posted splits like that again, too. probably take a styep back like ours just did last season.

-Washington is a one-line team. Kuznetsov/Backstrom/OV is all they have, and they just massively overpaid for one terrible defenseman and one who just had a career year he probably won't live up to. Holtby doens't bring his A game, and this team will be a lotto team.

-Carolina's always a wild card, but their top 6 is probably the worst in the NHL, and they don't have a whole lot of forward depth after skinner, staal, staal, and semin. Cam Ward isn't stealing games like he used to. Don't see that team competing on many nights.

Ottawa, Toronto, and Florida have a valuable lesson to learn here:

No defense-first d-men in the top-10. Ever.

Based on this and you saying Tampa has a bad defense, I'm thinking you're probably not that good an evaluator of defenseman....no offense.

Nope.

Smith for Marleau and Pavelski

This is ridiculous, Pavelski is worth Smith on his own.

Weircoch,s value to us isnt greater than cowen physical dimension. If we have a top 4 of Ceci,ek,weircoch and methot .Montreal,s forwards are going to start looking like boston,s to us ,its far too soft

Gotta take exception here(obviously)

First of all, I think it's insane that PDO is seen as a luck stat- skill players will score more on fewer shots, skilled goalies will let in fewer goals on more shots.

Our PDO didn't come crashing down because of "luck equalizing", our pdo came crashing down because our starting goalie was injured, and then rushed back in before he was ready, and then got injured again.

Prior to that, the Leafs were 3rd in the East.

Also, the big problems with the Leafs last year were compete level, and a joke of a defense corps(e). Our 4th line was also a non-factor, so most nights the team was running 3 lines, and getting fatigued by the end of it(hence late-game collapses).

Our signings have completely rebuilt the bottom-6 to include guys that can play throughout the lineup, if need be, get rid of the facepunching 4th line, and provide a much needed dose of energy with guys like Frattin, Santorelli, and Komarov.

Our defense also now has a better blend of defensive guys, along with some extra leadership in Robidas, though it's still under construction(Franson's not likely to stay, so even with Gardiner re-signing, we only have 5 d-men).

The only spot the Leafs will be weaker is in net, since Reimer likely won't be back, after his intense suckage down the stretch.

To expand on PDO- you can see it as luck, or something that will trend down if the team is playing above it's average PDO... but when a team maintains a high PDO for 100+ games, I think it's safe to say it's more a reflection of skill than luck... the sharp drop at the end of last season can be seen as a stretch of bad luck- which is probably why it was trending back upwards near the very end.

I'm not even trying to be biased but I don't see anyway Ottawa is better then Toronto. As of right now that is, still 90 some days til puck drop.
