That's a good deal. +1 for Benning.

Don't know if anyone has posted this but it's interesting that Benning's going to camp with this roster.

exactly what I suggested yesterday. Bridge contract 2-3 years and 1.5 to 2 million. Vantel and others suggested 3.5 million +

He had a solid year last but did nothing to justify anything over 2 million as an RFA

Interesting to see what Tanev gets, I imagine something like 2 years, 2.75-3 million. Move him if its anything more than 3.5

25.8 million per - how's that for expensive Zogg.

If you can afford to pay someone that much, you're allowed to be racist.

Depth is easier to acquire once you have a couple of stars and an owner willing to go over the luxury tax cap. There's always decent bench players looking to sign with contenders.

I know, I just marvel at the huge contracts given out in the more popular American sports

"Vrbata has 35 career shootout goals, which is 23 more than Burrows, the next best Canuck. His shootout success will be a bonus. His true value will be meshing with the twins and boosting the production of the league’s 26th-ranked power play and 28th-ranked offence."

Still think Evander Kane would be a great linemate with him. Kassian plays a roughtngame it would be nice to see someone have his back

I had him pegged at around 2.5m per on more term so this is a surprise. Good deal.

He is a better playmaker than anything, if he can add some muscle and improve his power game then great. But I think his primary asset is his vision and passing ability

Hockey is a niche sport. I mean it's not played in many countries and in the top league in the world over half the franchises struggle to maintain profitably. I realize Anthony just got 129m for 5 years and basketball is fairly niche as well I suppose but they have the US market enraptured so that's just about all of the battle won.

If his next deal hurts that would have meant he improved dramatically, which would be nice to see.

Not sure if this is fair value, but would these trades work out?

MTL: Burrows
VAN: 3rd Round Pick

WPG: Jensen, Markstrom and a 2nd
VAN: E. Kane

Not sure if thats fair, but I would think switching Markstrom for Lack wouldn't be a bad idea as well. Like someone said in the comments, when Miller's contract is up, Demko should be NHL ready leaving no room for either Lack or Markstrom.
