Is that 20% retention over the whole length of his contract? If so, I could definitely stomach a cap hit of $3.6mil for another 2 or 3 years before either trading him to a team looking to hit the cap floor or buying him out. Especially if it means LD gets an extra season of junior and a solid big, skilled mentor when he arrives!

The only issue would be having enough room to resign both of Schultz and Petry without pushing the cap too much.

Regardless, there aren't many other options for the guy. The elite teams don't have the cap space or holes at 2C and the mediocre teams don't have at least one of the prior. The way I see it, he's either gonna have to settle for playing on a sh!tty team or force Philly to do something more drastic.
