Even in the first year, Yak scored most of his goals in one month. He wasn't a consistent player whatsoever in the first year.
He needs to learn how to play the game. And to say if he had the puck more in the offensive zone, you're talking about the Oilers here. They couldn't keep possession in the offensive zone to save his life.

I agree he scored a lot of goals his first year, but learning defensive play and constancy is also another.

Maybe it was a little harsh but something needed to be done with Yak to make him a better player in the long run and motivate him.

Pretty sure Yak will come back to camp a bit more open minded and with a better understanding of what he needs to, and I'm 100% sure Eakins will take a different approach and they meet somewhere in the middle. Yak scores minimum 20 this year.
